My only advice would be to skip the 168SMK. While it is a pretty good shooting bullet, the BC sucks. Take advantage of the excellent high BC bullets out there, and really make this chambering shine.
Here is a couple loads-
Berger 168 VLD .010 into the lands
Win Brass
Fed215M
71.5 grns of Retumbo
3100FPS via 28" tube
Berger 168 VLD .010 into the lands
Win Brass
Fed215M
64.5 grns of RL19
3050FPS via 28" tube
7mmRM gave some good advice. If you aren't too keen on spending the coin for Bergers, step up in weight slightly to the 175 SMKs with a BC of 0.608. Or go down a tad to the 162 Amax with a BC of 0.625. I personally shoot the 175 SMK using a stout load of RL-25.
How hard are you guys running the 162 AMAXs? I'm at 70grs of RL25 in my WSM and it's showing great promise. No pressure signs yet. I am wondering how much more can I go? And if the numnbers are correct, they should be a little flatter to 1K then the 180gr Bergers.
