my buddy and i were shooting to check our ballistic drop at 200, 300, and 400 yards last week. The points of impact were within an inch of each other each time as we aimed at the bull each time. I load both of our rounds, he shoots 89gr of rl25 (rum), i shoot 70gr rl25 (rm) both recipies topped with 160gr nossler accubond; both rifles are remington senderos. does it make sense that the points of impact were the same between the two rounds at each distance with the same point of aim?

Re: 7mm RUM vs 7mm RM ballistics

efficiency?

Out to 400, I wouldn't expect to much variance.

Do a drop test at 1k and see what each of you have for a true velocity. I'm betting it will be more accurate out there.

so, besides energy at impact the two rounds would be ballistically the same out to about 400 yds lets say and the 7 RM would start to drop off exponentially at some distance beyond?
That makes pretty good sense...thanks.

I wouldn't say exponencially, you'll find that the edge given by the RUM isn't that great, unless you own a lot of stock in barrel manufacturers.
