Posted this over at one of the ClassIII sites but no replies so thought I would try it out over here. Planning my next gun project and wanted some input. I have an old Remington 7mmRM that I was thinking about having rebuilt. New barrel, action & bolt work, all dropped into either a McMillan or AI stock. I have all dies and equipment for 7mag so wanting to stay with 7mmRM. I am waiting on the paperwork to come back on a AA 762SD suppressor. Has anyone heard a 7mag shot suppressed? I assume it would be louder than a 308 but by how much? I will probably go ahead and get the new barrel threaded since it is not that much more and should make the gun more enjoyable to shoot. Hope to get started on it later this summer if it is worth doing and I can make it work.

Re: 7mmRM

Per AAC, the 762-SD will handle 300WM if the barrel length is 22 inches or longer. Ive used my 762-SD for over 1 year on my 300 with no problems. Dont know if it will handle 7mmRM, Id compare SAMMI pressure on both. My TBAC 30 makes a 7WSM sound like a 308 suppressed so I havent bothered with the 762-SD

SAAMI spec for the 7mm Remington Magnum is 61,000PSI/ 52,000CUP and the 300 WinMag is 64,000PSI/ 54,000CUP so with a long enough tube you should be OK. Then again WTF do I know, double check with AAC before turning your can into a steel sunflower.
