What an evening. Targets were IDPA Paper Practice Targets with a TEE Zone added and a 3" Orange Dot added in the center of the center body scoring circle, worth 15 Points. We also had a Bonus Playing Card One Round at 300 yards. Hanging infront of the Center Chest Orange Dot was a GLOW STICK suspended by a string. (Yellow & Green)
We started the match at approximately 8:30 PM from the 500 yards Firing Point Berm. We had Glow Sticks hit at 500 yards. That was impressive shooting. We worked our way up from 500 to 100 yards firing 5 rounds per position at the Silhouette, plus one additional round at 300 yards at the Bonus Playing Card. Illumination of the Target Bank was provided by Andrews Dodge 3/4 Diesel Pickup with Hi-Beams aimed at the center of the target line from 100 yards out. The truck was positioned on the Left side of the valley. Thank you for the use of your truck.
Weather Conditions were very light wind Left to Right, and pretty cool at around 50 degrees.
All rifles were cleared and checked before moving to the next firing position. Everything went like clockwork.

2-GUN COMBAT COURSE
We completed wiring the Shoot House earlier in the week and tested the lighting Thursday Night. We installed 3 each Keyless Fixtures ontop of the Outside Wall with 100W Flourescent Screw in Bulbs. On the Back Exterior wall we installed 2 each 500W Quarts Fixtures on top of the wall pointing down the valley. We installed a 4 foot long extension cord with male end on the first light box. To power up the lighting we ran a 100 foot extension cord from the outlet in the Bench Rest Pavilion to the plug and powered the lights up. Worked great.
Shooters were staged in the Bench Rest Pavilion, which is well lighted.
We had 9 IDPA Silhouette targets in the shoot house, some in good light and some in shadows. All were engaged with 2 rounds each. We had 3 targets in the Front Room, we had 2 targets in the Kitchen you shot over the table after opening the door and locating them. In the Bed Room was a single target. You had one down the hallway as you came around the corner, and a second one visible in the shadows through a door way to the back room. After exiting through the back door you had one additional target through the window to the Right.
At this point you transitioned to your carbine. The 20 targets in the valley were in 3 groups. The first group of 7 were engaged from the back of the shoot house, 2 rounds each. You advanced to the first barrel down the valley, and engaged the second set of targets. Then you advanced to the third barrel and engaged the last of the targets. Light was getting dimmer the further out you went.
I had Fiber Optic Sights on my carbine and handgun. In shadows I could not make out the front sight on my handgun. On the carbine course I could not make out my front sight on most targets at the second and third firing point. To my amazement I did not loose a huge amount of points. Most hits were close enough to center that I was only gaining a point a shot on most hits off center. Lesson Learned Here better optical sights are important in the dark.
I am sure my Centerfire Run would have been better. My M4 has an EOTEC as well as a rail mounted weapons light. My XDm has Fiber Optic/Night Sights. Both should have been up to the job.

For our first ever Night Shoot this went well. The only hitch was completion time. We finished up shooting the 2-Gun at 12:40 in the morning. A little late for firing centerfire. We had 3 more local club members who elected not to shoot their centerfire runs due to the late hour and the noise.
Bryan who takes care of our Club WEB SITE printed the Certificates. They were very nice. Infact the nicest ones we have ever given out. A big thank you to Bryan. He will be the one posting as BPSC.
We had shooters from as far away as Joplin Missouri come to shoot. Could have been some from further away, as I do not know where everyone was from.
If you were not their, you missed a very good time.
