911 Operator Gives Bad Advice

Re: 911 Operator Gives Bad Advice

For all they know one of the other assailants took the gun when the 1st guy dropped. And telling him if someone comes at them to not shoot? F#$k that...

I agree but would suck to be on the other end of that phone with a ear peice in and get the feed back from a shotgun being fired. Im not sure what the dispatched was getting at?

Would suck even more to be on the other end and hear 2 kids get shot and murdered because you told them to not defend themselves...

Re: 911 Operator Gives Bad Advice

I agree as I said I am not sure what the dispatcher was getting at. The bad guys/ suspects could very well have had a gun and took it with them when they ran. I am glad the kids are o.k.

I don't think it would be an issue to them. They don't care. This home invasion is just another statistic to them. She should lose her job, telling someone to not defend themselves in their own home.

My hat's off to the kid. He had it together the whole time and was having none of the stupid 911 operators BS about not firing again if he had to.

Re: 911 Operator Gives Bad Advice

Hello,

The kids did exactly what they should have done. Its a shame the dispatcher gave the boy instructions which could have caused the situation to end very badly for him and his sister.

I'm glad to hear that the boy will not be charged with a crime. His parents were not mentioned but they could be charged (I hope not) because a firearm was accessible to a minor. In NC it is a crime to have a firearm stored in a manner where it is accessible by a minor.

Yes, "Chalk one up for the good guys"

Re: 911 Operator Gives Bad Advice

That kid was mature behind his years, and polite! "But what is someone else come's back in ma'am?". Known offenders.

Some parents raising their kids right.

And the remaining suspects, one was the brother of the perp shot who was on bond on assault of a female (meaning the 14 y.o. old's sister could have been a victim), and others with prior home invasions.

This is the second 911 call we hear a dispatcher telling a home occupant not to shoot an invader in 2 months...

Incorrect. The law states if the firearm is left in a condition that it can be discharged, if the weapon is left knowingly where it can be accessed, and then...
(1) Possesses it in violation of G.S. 14‑269.2(b);
(2) Exhibits it in a public place in a careless, angry, or threatening manner;
(3) Causes personal injury or death with it not in self defense; or
(4) Uses it in the commission of a crime.

It also goes on to state that the law does not apply if the minor obtained the weapon as a result of an unlawful entry by an individual. I.E Self defense.

Re: 911 Operator Gives Bad Advice

Glad this scumbag is dead. hope the kid will get good after doing what needed done.Some folks only understand the sharp end of the stick and they often need some killing. Good people need to teach this more often. Sad it had to be a kid but he held up his end of the deal.
