I just returned from an extended business trip overseas and was anxious to spend some quality time with my seven-year old son. There was a gun show in Northern Virginia this weekend, so he and I went on Saturday. I recently bought him a 10/22 and, while at the show, found a vendor who had the new Boyd's "tacticool" stock and a selection of after-market barrels. I ended up picking up a stock and an 18" Green Mountain barrel and my son and I spent some time "building" his new rifle.
On Sunday, we took the rifle to a local indoor range to site it in. While there, I rented a full-size Sig that had been converted to a .22 and a S&W MP15-22. I've been going back and forth between picking up one of the S&W's or investing in an AR and getting a dedicated upper. Well, my son (and I) loved the MP15-22 and he did great with it. They had one for sale at the range, so that ended up coming home with us. Here's a pic of him shooting:
All in all, a nice weekend with my son and a nice weekend shooting.
