Went out for just Charlie tonight with tony and ended bagging 3 wood pigeons ( 2 hit with a 75gr hollow point ) and once I'd taken the breast and was having a chin bash Charlie came out so tony was up but guys the wind down here at the min is horrendous and at near 200yds it was a unfortunate miss.
Shortly after another fox comes out near our bated area and sits for a stratch .. Well seen as me and tony were 168yds away under cover of a tree it was hard to resist.
No sooner had I ejected the case tony spotted another near where he had missed and yup I missed too
the wind was really kicking us about with the gusts
Well the rain showers came but we stayed under our tree in cover and relatively dry and soon as it passed I noticed movement up near where we had missed two foxes earlier.
I said to tony foxy is back and scoped up then sent another report " erm cancel that its a muntjac"
Taking aim I fired at 198yd away my round hit its intended target
I gave tony alittle lesson in the grollock and also field craft as I had the branch taking door near me and used it thru the hind legs so she could hang for abit whilst we watched the fields.
I went to one of the water points and got stuck in knee high mud and pondered if I would be getting out as tony was 300yds away and deaf as a deaf man with ear plugs in with the howling wind. Fortunately got out with boots on this time and don't ill be doing that again in a hurry.
Muntjacs hanging now chaps and will joint her tomorrow evening
