A few quick questions regarding the post exchange.

I am new to the site and have yet to take part in anything post exchange related so I was hoping a few of the saltier members could chime in and clarify a few things for me.

1.) Is the sale of an AR style rifle you assembled yourself be permissible in the post exchange? If so, would that classify me as an assembler and require me to upgrade to the commercial member status or is that a classification for those who choose to do it for business purposes?

2.) Would the posting of firearms related items such as tools and jigs be appropriate for sale in the post exchange?

Can you transfer any firearm that doesn't have a serial number?

That should answer your question
Weeeelllllllllll technically yes. Guns made prior to the GCA of 68 weren’t required to have serial numbers. I’ve had a few

And if it hasn’t changed, you could sell an 80% build IF your intention wasn’t to make a profit/part of a bidness when you built it. I haven’t kept up with that part lately with all the changes

There seems to be some confusion so I will clarify. The firearm is an AR308 with a manufacturer serialized lower receiver. I merely purchased all of the components separately and assembled them myself since the complete rifles weren't in stock at the time of my purchase.

I wonder if any FFL would like to deal with the situation? Probably most would be hands off just to be on the safe side.
Since he's clarified that it's serialized and the lower is what they consider the firearm I doubt that there's an issue. Now if he sells ten of them....

Last pre 68 gun I had sent to my ffl, he got a little squirrely. I even told him it didn’t have one lol. I told him how to deal with it

Then no problem on the gun or the jigs and tools. Just me, but I would urge you to be explicit in your advert wrt to the rifle, its parts, and who built it but no problem in selling it in the PX.

No need for commercial account to do so. Just Supporter status which you already have.

Go forth, young man, and sell! haha

Cheers

P.S. - wish more people asked first, like you, rather than just sticking their foot in the shit over PX rules violations.

I am quite aware you cannot sell or transfer a non-serialized firearm. The purpose for the question was merely regarding the title "assembler" as stated in the rules and the, stigma for a lack of better term, around selling "personally-assembled" firearms.

Just trying to mind my P's and Q's. Something tells me dropping a nugget in the punch bowl my first week isn't the best way to start things off.
