I guess I'm mostly venting here but I do need some advice on a good quality Torx-driver or bit. I'm trying to get the Leupold Tactical Rings on my Leupold Scope loose and I've twisted the ends off 4 bits and 2 Torx drivers! Those bitches will not budge!!! I didn't install them in the first place so I can't blame myself. I think my last resort is going to be to drill them out! At least one of the screw heads is stripped so that one definitely has to be drilled out. Anyone got any pearls of wisdom or suggestions? Or at least who makes a decent Torx bit or driver??? Thanks in advance guys...

did you loc tite them, I would put a little heat to see it expands and breaks free

get a soldering iron. Let it heat up and hold the tip to the screw head. that will heat up the screw and not your entire rings/scope. Never put direct heat or flame on your scope.

Ive read that a Soldering gun tip to heat the loc tite.
300*F should melt it

+1 with heat. Take the tip of a soldering iron and put it to the screw heads. Good luck.

+2 with the heat. Just keep in mind, it's cheaper to trash the rings and get new ones than trash the scope in the process.

Heat should help you out. If you don't have a soldering iron you can insert the proper bit into the screw and heat the rear end of the bit with a lighter or torch if you must.
Another idea would be to use a impact screwdriver, however the impact needed may be a little harsh on your scope.

Try turning the screw in just by the tiniest amount. Sometimes the screws corrode and getting them to move is the hardest part. If you can move it tighter, then it is usually easier to get them to come out.
Old trick I learned while pulling panel screws on aircraft. When you have 3-500 screws to pull at a time, the last thing you want to do is drill the heads off...
Try turning the screw in just by the tiniest amount. Sometimes the screws corrode and getting them to move is the hardest part. If you can move it tighter, then it is usually easier to get them to come out.

Once you get the one's without the stripped head free, the one with the stripped head should come out without any issues.

Thanks to all for the good advice. I didn't have a good way to heat the screws so I just drilled them out. Just finished putting the scope on a different rifle. I wasn't the one who put them in so I didn't know what adhesive was used but it appears to be something dark brown and very solid. I just replaced the screws with ones I had laying around.

Go to your local auto parts store and pick up a tube of valve grinding compound and put a dab on the bit. It keeps the bit from slipping in the fastener and will minimize the potential for stripped heads.

Extracted 3 of the 4 stripped base screws today using soldering iron gun tip on the screw head, 4th one would not come out and had to dremel it out.
We tried slotting it for a screw driver, but no cigar, so we just dremelled it out. Sadly my base took a beating.
Oh well Krylon is a quick solution for that
