I may be looking for a Unicorn, I thought I would check with the Hide mind.

I have been doing quite a bit of pest and predator hunting since 2021. As I have become more exposed to it, incorporating a thermal device seems like the way to go at this point. What I would ideally like to do is have a thermal that serves three different functions. 1) I would like it to be a inline clip on that sits in front of my day optic. 2) I would like to be able to use it as a hand held for scanning. 3) If it can do the first two, I would love to be able to attach it to a bridge and use it helmet mounted sometimes. Of the three wishes, the one that is most important to me is the inline. If I can get a thermal that I can mount and it does not impact zero very much, that would be ideal. I would also like to keep the total cost at or below $7,500.

We have our AGM rattler and secutor clip ons that will do your first two nicely. Let me know if I can help you out at all. I’ll send you a dm with some specs

Take a look at the new DNT HS635 - Hydra 640x512 35mm Multi-Function Thermal Scope - Standalone Scope - Clip-On - Handheld Monocular
Standalone Scope + Clip On + Handheld, Hydra redefines the standard for the thermal industry. This is one of the most capable and best valued thermal one can imagine. CNC machined from an entire block of aircraft grade aluminum; Hydra is extremely sturdy for all environments.

High-End Thermal Sensor and AI Enhanced
Super Resolution Image

Our Hydra thermal scope is equipped with a 12μm ≤18mk thermal sensor for ultra clear thermal images and DNT's proprietary Super Resolution image algorithm just made the impossible, possible. This amazing technology now enhances your thermal image to the next level and resolves the biggest issue of thermal losing definition after digitally zooming in.

I discussed this with our Armasight rep and he replied:
"In regards to the post on Sniper's Hide forum,

That's not a problem - please consider our Jockey 640 and Jockey 320

2) I would like to be able to use it as a hand held for scanning.

While a clip-on can br pressed into service as a monocular, it is far from ideal - it is collimated for use with a magnified daytime optic and the image as a handheld will be unsatisfactory.

I would recommend our dedicated thermal handheld/helmet mounted unit, the Sidekick 640 or Sidekick 320:

3) If it can do the first two, I would love to be able to attach it to a bridge and use it helmet mounted sometimes.

The Sidekick thermal monocular referenced above can be helmet mounted, and bridged alone, or in conjunction with a PVS-14 night vision monocular":

When will the civilian market get a collaminating dedicated thermal utilizing 16650/18650 at a $5-6k pricepoint? 6z+/ELRs are cool but no onboard recording (i know base 1 power) really sucks, AA/123CRs consumable galore.

i saw this after looking around at alternatives after opticsplanet screwed me out of an RH25 i'd ordered from them that they didnt actually have. how does the hs635 compare to the rh25 image quality wise? ive not seen anybody post footage through it yet.

i know the armasight sidekick 640 despite having a similar sensor specification and display resolution had a markedly worse image quality and detection at range from some of what i have seen around the net (though that's supposedly been fixed with software updates.)

take it the hydra 635 and the TNC he'd posted there are basically the same image quality then?

The new DNT HS635 - Hydra 640x512 35mm Multi-Function Thermal Scope - Standalone Scope - Clip-On - Handheld Monocular started shipping this week and we should hopefully have them later this week, early next week. I cannot give you a first hand answer as I have not had one in my hands yet, however, my understanding is the image quality is excellent

@gr8fuldoug or anyone else who understands this stuff - can you explain how the HS635 works as a clip-on with their base magnification of 1.5? Presumably the image on screen is reduced in that mode (versus the sight and scanner modes) to bring the image back to unity for the daytime optic? Would this also not mean that the HS225 reduces the image size substantially more to account for the 3x base magnification? Assuming I have that right, it would also seem to indicate that the HS635 would offer higher magnification before things become fuzzy on the daytime optic?

The image does get shrunk down a bit to fit into the daytime optic.

I will have to dig a little deeper on the base magnification of the HS225 and how entering clip on mode affects it.

More to follow
When in clip-on the image is shrunk down to fit into the eye box of the glass optic.
The reticle and magnification on the Hydra series are disabled when in clip-on mode.
The base magnification will be that of your glass optic.
