My modlite 850 IR illuminator was on my 11.5 SBR, but I just snagged a DBAL A3 for weapon use. This modlite is a little much for a rifle, but it’s amazing as a handheld for scanning. I was thinking to myself, how can I attach this to my helmet without covering it with velcro or messing with bungees?
Well here ya go. It turns out the Arisaka inline mlok mount fits nicely inside the pic rail channel and screws in very tightly. The mount takes a lot of force to rotate it, doesn’t flex so no bouncing, and it’s solid enough with 1 screw that I can hold the helmet by the light. The beam angle is perfect. I can light up street signs hundreds of yards away in a natural head position and zero backlight issues.
Also, ear pro still functions as normal being able to pop in and out. It’s the small things sometimes.
