Hello everyone!

After having been involved with the shooting hobby for 30 of my 37 years on this planet, I've decided to give long range shooting a try.

Currently, the farthest I've shot from is 50 yards and I've never owned a scoped firearm in my life. So I've got a lot of learning to do, but I have sat a goal for myself to hit from 1000yds some day and intend on working towards it slowly.

For now, I've been eyeballing the Bergara HMR Pro in 6.5 Creedmoor and I've already ordered a Garmin Foretrex 701 (I wanted the GPS features as much as I wanted the ballistics calculator), but am completely lost when it comes to scopes.

I plan on lurking here and researching as much as possible. Thanks for letting me in!

Welcome! I went through something similar two years ago. I got to 1,000 yards way faster than I thought. not saying it's because i'm 'good' it's just fairly easy. doing it consistently is what takes work.

i don't own one, but I don't think you can go wrong with that HMR Pro in 6.5c. good choice!

lots of threads on scopes, just establish a budget and go from there.
