Ultra-capitalism gave us the Robber Barons. Another oligarchy. Can't let the pendulum swing too far....Folks that are all waxing lyrical and singing the praises of Capitalism should first understand that the USA IS NOT and for a long time HAS NOT been a "capitalist" country, rather we have been an Oligarchy where the Richest of the Rich and the biggest corporations, privatize all the profits and socialize all the losses and the middle class subsidizes the rich.
Unbridled and unrestrained "capitalism" is almost as bad as communism, because in the end they become very similar in outcomes for the country.
Just remember that when someone starts up the hymnbook to praise whatever their favourite ism is.
The Elites have brainwashed the good folks to think that it's great for the rich to steal everything and oppress everyone and rule because well they deserve it for being better at being rich...
It's why no serious civilization ever developed in equatorial regions, except the Inca, which is high altitude. When you live in Eden, you don't have to plan for jack shit, so the cycle of theft repeats for millennia.I read "Atlas Shrugged" in one of the early edition hardbacks. 1,069 pages, I remember, to this day. It took a while to read.
The moral case for capitalism is that you are responsibile for yourself. It is the natural thing to gather resources and survive. Even smarter to conserve those, which is a kingpin of cultures from northern climates that have shorter growing seasons. You have to learn to have self control and save the bounty of harvest to get you through the lean winter months.
Communism steals from you. The person next to you gets the fruits of your labor and not because he earned them but because he drew a breath.
Capitalism is corrupt, inhumane, and deeply unfair. It also happens to be the least worse economic system that humans have managed to come up with so far.
I wish it would be viewed as broadly as whatever viral clip is currently trending

Maybe, but you can become the rich elite at anytime. All it requires is lots of risk and luck.Folks that are all waxing lyrical and singing the praises of Capitalism should first understand that the USA IS NOT and for a long time HAS NOT been a "capitalist" country, rather we have been an Oligarchy where the Richest of the Rich and the biggest corporations, privatize all the profits and socialize all the losses and the middle class subsidizes the rich.

What you’re talking about isn’t capitalism, but these arguments are almost always terrible because of such differing meanings. Capitalism is just an exchange of goods between consenting parties. It’s economics, nothing more. What you’re talking about is more like “crony” capitalism instead of “free market” capitalism. And any intervention by the state is always crony capitalism. Economics perverted by the state always leads to worse outcomes for the less fortunateFolks that are all waxing lyrical and singing the praises of Capitalism should first understand that the USA IS NOT and for a long time HAS NOT been a "capitalist" country, rather we have been an Oligarchy where the Richest of the Rich and the biggest corporations, privatize all the profits and socialize all the losses and the middle class subsidizes the rich.

It almost always works the other way.
Those who manage to get big money the first / fastest or who have a big set of wealth at their disposal usually work on corrupting the state and the government as their first priority to help themselves get richer and set up barriers to anyone else trying.
The state does not pervert economics as much as economics enables the "capitalists" to pervert the state pretty quickly.
The same can be said about communism. People in charge live the good life. Everyone else suffers. When the state eventually collapses the people in charge remain in charge as “business owners” and with a decade become billionaires.
harsh, but essentially correct, humans being like they are. the issue is that capitalism is the ONLY economic system that supports individual liberty and freedom. that is all that really matters. every system has winners and losers. trying to balance those out justly is a problem that often leads to socialism, fascism and communism. developing a randian type system with control of abuse, corruption and exploitation, esp in the presence of "democracy". has yet to be developed anywhere at any time. i got no clue how.Capitalism is corrupt, inhumane, and deeply unfair. It also happens to be the least worse economic system that humans have managed to come up with so far.
Anyone arguing for something else like communism, or socialism (communism in disguise) just wants to seize power no matter what the costs.
Then the problem is the state itself and the blood-soaked monsters who run it, not an economic system. It almost always works the other way.

A lot of context is lost in the typed word vs. spoken word, but are you saying Communism isn’t so bad because people are still alive in China and N. Korea? Then the problem is the state itself and the blood-soaked monsters who run it, not an economic system.
This same economic system is also the one that is keeping people alive as we speak in North Korea. And it was the same system that kept people alive in the Soviet Union and Mao’s China at the height of their depravity
The system is now carefully engineered to avoid that occurring without a nod from the elites, which is generally only given once they have secured blackmail control over you. It is a literal deal with the devil. The “American dream” is now a fallacy perpetrated be the priest class to maintain hope, and therefore control.Maybe, but you can become the rich elite at anytime. lol, indeed something was lost in translation. Reading that back to myself it does sound confusing. My reference to “this same economic system” is to any form of black market(read: free market) that enables people to get what goods they need to survive. There are some really good books about North Korea that explain a little about how the black markets and smugglers work.A lot of context is lost in the typed word vs. spoken word, but are you saying Communism isn’t so bad because people are still alive in China and N. Yes, almost all of the problems arise from the people who run any system, but Communism…especially of the Maoist variety is almost pure evil in and of itself. It completely subverts the concept of the individual and “a higher power” than that of The State.
Regardless, I kind of get what you’re saying, but yeah… Capitalism is still the best way we humans have come up with so far, to provide equal opportunity to individuals. And IMHO, all forms of Communism and Socialism are evil. Period.
