Attending an Applseed shoot this summer with my daughter got me back to the range after a 20yr absence. I rediscovered my 308 and long range shooting. Looking for cheaper trigger time I started shooting my 22 at 100 yards.
I thought it might be interested to share the journey and changes to my 10/22 and the resulting accuracy changes. All scores are referenced are the average of at least 5 targets all shot at 100 yards
215 0f 250......Stock 10/22 carbine with laminate stock circa 2002
221 of 250......Clark triger group
224 of 250 ....... 24' fluted clark barrel
233 of 250 ....... 1,500 rounds of drills and coaching. No matter what, at this point I could not prevent fliers into the 6 ring in random directions
241 of 250 ........bolt pinned and radiused, barrel threaded to rediever, 11 degree target crown and match chamber by Randy at CPC
The biggest changes came from training and trigger time, no surprises here right!!
All of the technical changes to the 10/22 improved consistency. The bigest changes came from the trigger work, and the bolt work by Randy has eliminated the random 2 inch flier.
