Having spent the last week to find alternate suppliers in my profession, while estabishing new accounts for the shooting industry. Men I'll be up front with you if you are on a existing list to receive ammo be it retail or what ever its 3 months wait ! If your not its 1/2 year wait I have personally have never witnessed shortages like this in all areas. One day Walmart has a TV dinner you like the next day they dont or it's in a total different location ? It's almost seems like this is a intentional event. If you come across something up might want to pick it up.

True statement ! But wheres all of what their making ? You think these little bitty quick grabs off the internet is what their producing ? While the retail base has diminished Walmart, Atwoods and other retailers dont even carry it any longer in my area , who got that massive inventory ?

I dont believe the military ever suffered an ammo shortage, any military, after all I still believe Lake City Army Ammunition still produces around 4,000,000 rounds per day and that does not count private companies that produce military ammo, and that ammo is run at different specs than what you and I shoot, thus run on different production lines, plus the military is not a huge user of 22lr ammo.

Resources will be redistributed to lines that supply the militaries. Just because they don’t use a lot of 22LR does not mean that line’s production will not suffer.

What shortage? I mean its expensive but i just bought 2k rounds of armscor .22... i have my local gunshop order me what i want, and i pay for it. Less wait and yeah i pay more but also i help keep their doors open so i can get ammo when i want it.
I even have a shop that is selling lr primers. They are sellior and bellot, but still 6.50 a 100. I havent tried them yet but ive been grabbing 100 ever once in awhile and putting them back.
Yea I have for years while most of yall were buying 1-5k primers I'd buy 100k and like wise on everything else. But we haven't seen the worse yet hold on !

There's little doubt in my mind that a good deal of the 22RF ammo shortage is self-inflicted by guys buying more than they can possibly shoot. Now I'll admit that after sending my 1st V-22 to Mesa to be tested in the Lapua test center, I bought two cases of the best lot of Center-X Daniel shot in my bbl'd action - that was two years ago, and I'm just now getting into the 2nd case. I farm full-time for a living, and have a hard time getting away to shoot NRL22 or other PRS-style 22RF matches, plus the nearest ones I shoot are 170mi away, so I'm sure a lot of you guys on here get more opportunities to shoot matches than I do. But still, how many of you have bought more than two cases of Lapua after having a rifle tested? There must be a metric ton of you that do, because they're so short on stock that they can't promise they'll have anything to sell you after testing right now. I expected this to happen after the ammo shortage got bad last year - when we're threatened by the possibility of a shortage - whether it's real or imagined - word gets around on the 'net at about the speed of light, and everyone of us starts looking for product to buy, whether we need it or not.
The other side of it is that the pandemic most certainly did cut ammo production rates considerably. The combination of lack of healthy workers and the need to keep social distancing in place can't have had anything but a negative effect on ammo production. Then here in the States, we have had to deal with the buying frenzy that usually happens when we wind up with an anti-2nd Amendment doofus in the White House - it's sort of a 'perfect storm' situation, and it's all came together at a time when several rifle makers have brought some really excellent 22RF repeater designs to market, so the demand for match-grade ammo is probably higher than it's ever been.

In my direct experience, the test center ammunition is reserved for those who are testing and each lot tested is to have at least 1 case available.
In addition, Mesa and Marengo do not share the same test lots.
Who made the statement that Lapua won’t guarantee that the ammo tested will be available? This does not make sense unless policies changed.
I've read on two different websites that Lapua has suspended testing because of a lack of ammunition at Capstone's central warehouse in Sedalia, Mo. They may have ammo at Mesa & Marengo for testing, but evidently don't have the ammo in stock in Sedalia to fulfill orders generated after testing. I haven't called to get a testing appointment because of reading that a couple of guys had their appointments cancelled due to lack of ammo in stock. If this isn't the case, I'd appreciate hearing the straight skinny...
As outlined before, the test ammo inventory for both test centers is separate from general inventory. Test center inventory is low (in part due to a container recently delayed in port) so they may be extending test appointments. Combine this with use of the test centers at an all time high, yes inventory will be thin and schedules adjusted accordingly and rescheduled dates offered.
If Walmart, Atwood's, and Academy is where your looking for ammo at your missing the boat, you might as well be looking for Tannerite at Walgreens. Every Johnny Tactical and ammo scalper on the planet clean the box stores out soon as they get shit they've been doing that forever every time there's a "ammo scare".
Yep, the sales guy at Cabelas was saying on the days they typically get shipments there will be 100 people lined up at opening and they will just all hang out at the ammo area. They recently had a shipment come in and by 4pm that day they had sold completely out, over $250k worth in ammo sales.
Going to box stores is a waste of time and you'll find the ammo on Armslist 15min later for 3 times as much... These guys that are buying up this shit in bulk are not real gun guys, they don't shoot the ammo they are just flipping it. But unfortunately it's supply and demand if everyone is scared and trying to stock up the cycle of stupidity continues...
I was at the Ohio location last week. I read the rumors on here and elsewhere and was afraid I would show up and there would be no ammo. I wasn’t able to make contact to verify if my appointment was cancelled or not.
I showed up and we tested 10 lots of Center X. I bought a case of one lot and 8 bricks of another. It drop shipped from the Sedalia, MO. I should have and could have bought more. Oh well I have another appointment in September.

The stores around here are either getting little tiny shipments, or they're putting in massive orders to stay in stock, expecting 6+ months between deliveries.
Not hardly in Oct. of 1992 I was preparing while most people were clueless ! Right before SLICK CLINTON took office. I'm not necessarily referring to just ammo I'm talking about things that will equal the great depression before long. I set in a little maw and paw restaurant while ago, they cant even get rye bread or Texas Toast type bread , just sleep with one eye open, so you dont miss it. Destruction form within is a slow process, like cancer by the time you figure it out it's to late !

First rifle I shot (1984) was an SLR L1A1 with taxpayer ammo; second was a Voere 1014 .22 lr semi; third rifle was a .22 target rifle at a local small bore club (started by a WW2 Bren gunner who gave me a solid foundation for proper shooting). I started buying suitable .22lr ammo in 500 and 1,000 lots back around 1986-7. I live in a capital city BUT if I still lived in a rural town I would probably double those amounts. If you sort out your supplies in a time of plenty you should never have a major supply or cost issue.

That's funny, I just picked up 5 boxes of 9mm ammo from Bass Pro Shop this morning for $16 a box. I got a notification this morning at 6 am and I was finished ordering at 6:15. It's not bad for my son to shoot at the range.
There are people selling the junk Federal 800 round packs they bought at Walmart for $45 for $200 or more.
These fucking guys should be shot but its too expensive to do that right now, these jackoffs create an inflated demand that drive retail prices up and they take ammo off the shelf that real gun guys would actually shoot. But again why would these guys stop if there's a line of idiots with cash in hand willing to pay $1.00 rd for 9mm and the other outrageous prices you see.

Found some CCI standard velocity in our local Walmart this morning. I was there when the opened. The limit was 3 boxes each. I happened to be first in line. About 90% of the people in there buying that ammo were not shooters. They were buying it to resale. They were bitching about the CCI standard velocity rounds being "lead tipped" and they were afraid they were not going to be able to sell them for as much as they could the copper coated rounds. Assholes really pissed me off...
You know I could deal with these jackoffs buying small amounts in the box stores if I could buy what I needed from the places that sell large bulk ammo/reloading material but Its extremely hard to get powder, primers, projectiles, bulk ammo 5000rd cases etc. I stay extremely stocked up year round but being stocked up is relative, how much do you shoot and how long will it be before you can replenish your pile. When things are like this your left with 2 choices either not shoot as much or bend over and pay the prices and both of those suck for guys that shoot.
