Hey guys....just doing a follow up write up for a rifle I picked up from American Precision Arms. I keep noticing little perfections the longer I have this thing. Jered and his team built me a 308 on one of his genesis actions with a 7.2 contour broughton barrel with a little bastard muzzle brake. I added a pair of APA rings (perfection also) and a 5.5-22x50 Nightforce, and an Atlas bipod. I can tell you that drilling the counterbore holes for the t-nuts for that bipod rail was scary, but came out alright. Back to the rifle. First, when I pulled the barreled action out of the stock, it took about a good 5 minutes of rocking the action left to right and pulling straight up to dislodge it with the stock in a padded vise. I've never in my life seen a bedding job this tight. When it came out, the bedding got my attention. It looks like it was molded in a machine. I've never seen a bedding job this clean or perfect. I have two other bedded rifles, and they have some good work put into them, and this thing just blows them away. Unreal. Also, noticed that the action screw tips are polished to a mirror shine. Even the front screw. The one you cannot see. Who does that?! These people have pride in their work. Also, the muzzle brake appears to be cut in the barrel rather than threaded on. I have had no lless than twenty people ask me who cut the barrel for me. I just smile and say, ha, it's threaded. I dare you to find the seam. It's really some beautiful work. The action is awesome as expected, and does it shoot......It holds 1/4 minute all the way to 600 so far with factory ammo. I have given it 168 hornady match amax rounds, federal gmm 168 and 175, corbon 155 scenars, atomic 308 loaded with 168 nosler custom comp 168 projectiles, and hornady 155 amax match rounds. I also shot some HSM 185 grain vld hunting rounds through it. The scenar is the only bullet this rifle doesn't like. Everything else, and I mean all of them, shoot 1/4 moa at six, and 1/3 to 1/2 at 800 for the heavier bullets (175 gmm, hornady 178 bthp). This is the killer though. The thing shoots 1/3 moa at 800 and occasionally 1/4 moa with 185 grain vld hunting bullets factory loaded from hsm. I am blown away. Every piece of the rifle is done to perfection, and it shoots unlike anything I've ever seen. For anyone looking to have a custom rifle built, APA is the place. I have some other rigs from some other builders, and have played with some others from places I will not mention out of respect. I don't wish to sound like I am bashing anyone, but these guys can build a stick that will water your eyes. Thanks again to Jered and all of the team at APA for an unreal rifle, and I can't wait to get with you on my 300 win mag build.
