This is just an informational post, designed to hopefully help others avoid some of the frustration I just went through.
When using USPS "click and ship" (online pay & print postage), be VERY careful when using paypal as the method of payment. I did this because the site would not play nice with my debit card (bank of the west card), and ended up getting double billed.
How did this happen? My label did not print correctly the first time, and when prompted by their site, I clicked "no, it didn't print correctly". I got a pop-up message saying I would not be charged, and it returned me to the "shopping cart" to try again. However, my paypal WAS charged. When I fixed the printer and checked out again, I was billed, AGAIN.
I did receive a refund notification about 3 min later for the first transaction, but here is the kicker: paypal put a 15-21 day hold on the refund. I contacted their customer service and was told that's because USPS only pays refunds in "batch" orders. Now I know they are short handed and in major financial trouble, but I think it's total bullshit to make the customer sit on their refund for up to 3 weeks. I'm especially pissed because the USPS site said it would not charge me, and yet it did.
I have no fear that paypal will eventually take care of it, they were quite helpful. But as far as i'm concerned, USPS can suck a fat one. I'm tired of their constant bullshit- I can understand mistakes or slow service because of holiday traffic, blah bla blah... but to outright lie to the customer and then "borrow" their money for 2-3 weeks is total bullshit.
Just an FYI if you use this service to ship things you might sell on this or other sites, be very careful how you pay.
Fuck USPS.
