This is just an informational post, designed to hopefully help others avoid some of the frustration I just went through.

When using USPS "click and ship" (online pay & print postage), be VERY careful when using paypal as the method of payment. I did this because the site would not play nice with my debit card (bank of the west card), and ended up getting double billed.

How did this happen? My label did not print correctly the first time, and when prompted by their site, I clicked "no, it didn't print correctly". I got a pop-up message saying I would not be charged, and it returned me to the "shopping cart" to try again. However, my paypal WAS charged. When I fixed the printer and checked out again, I was billed, AGAIN.

I did receive a refund notification about 3 min later for the first transaction, but here is the kicker: paypal put a 15-21 day hold on the refund. I contacted their customer service and was told that's because USPS only pays refunds in "batch" orders. Now I know they are short handed and in major financial trouble, but I think it's total bullshit to make the customer sit on their refund for up to 3 weeks. I'm especially pissed because the USPS site said it would not charge me, and yet it did.

I have no fear that paypal will eventually take care of it, they were quite helpful. But as far as i'm concerned, USPS can suck a fat one. I'm tired of their constant bullshit- I can understand mistakes or slow service because of holiday traffic, blah bla blah... but to outright lie to the customer and then "borrow" their money for 2-3 weeks is total bullshit.

Just an FYI if you use this service to ship things you might sell on this or other sites, be very careful how you pay.

Fuck USPS.

BTDT...had a lable print AFTER I rejected it, theen the label I printed came up. I got them mixed up, and used teh rejected label...good thing I had a cool Post Master here that saw the lable and the box tags and email traffif for teh confirmed delivery. PITA, yes, but in the end ok. Never any real hiccups from the credit/debit cards either adn I been using the account for over five years

I'd bet it's actually Paypal holding your money not the USPS.

I shipped over 600 flate rate USPS boxes last year, all labels printed via click-and-ship. Only one box was lost. USPS is pretty good all in all. I am glad they are a shipping option. When UPS wants $15 to ship a t-shirt 1000 miles, and USPS will do it for $5 including delivery confirmation anywhere in the US, you can guess who I am going to use...

Consider yourself on the luckier side... We've had several packages "disappear" in shipping with USPS. Then you've got UPS that gives us a 12 hour window of delivery. Between UPS & USPS given the choice... FedEx lol

Re: A warning about USPS "click n' ship"- a rant.

I despise UPS, on a number of occasions they've delivered items to my neighbors doorstep w/o realizing it. Not a big deal if I'm ordering crap, but a $450 order that says delivered and isn't here kinda makes you freak out.

As for the USPS, I'm very glad to use them and do it almost exclusively. PayPal can suck a fat one.

As for retailers keeping money, try paying cash at Best Buy and being told that you have to wait for a check in the mail for refunds above $200 (i think it's $200). Took back a PC after realizing it was available at Costco for less.

Well, perhaps paypal is also at fault in this, but i'm still pissed that they charged me when they said they would not. The USPS site specifically said "your account will not be charged" NOT "We'll charge you and then refund it". IMHO, that's dishonest.

They are still sitting on my $$, thankfully it isn't a big amount.

Then to salt the wound, my bank sent me a notice that they are going to start adding a $10 monthly service charge to my primary checking acct... the same account that is tied to my PP account.

It's easy enough to replace my bank, but I wish there was an alternative to some of these other services.
