Have not seen to much on these so I thought I would post my experience with it today.
I bought the 260 AAC barrel go and no go guages and a wheeler action wrench from midway all for $297 shipped. I made my own barrel vise today. The factory barrel was not to hard to remove. After cleaning the action threads I threaded on the 260 barrel as instructed by hand and checked head space with both guages. To my amazement the chamber passed go and no go, so I added some antiseeze and torqued on the barrel. I tested the chamber again and it again passed go and no go test. This barrel is very wide at the chamber, much wider than remington varmint so I am going to have to widen the barrel channel. After I get the rifle put back together and tested I will post groups. This looks like a cheap way to try the .260, but we will see how it shoots.

I bought one of these for a buddy, his donor action arrived yesterday, I hope to get it screwed together this weekend and do the same.

I too will do my best to get pictures and stuff posted.

I just spun one of these on myself. I have not done any load development yet but I thought it was odd that 140gr Remington factory core lock shot better than the 139gr Black Hill Lapua. Make sure you clean it real good before you go out the first time. There was plenty of residue from the nitride left in the barrel and chamber. I will say that it cleaned up real nice and I never noticed any copper build up longest string was 40 rounds. I did not measure any groups but my best guess was with the Remington at .80. I do love the contour it balanced out really nice in two stock I had it setting in.

Good to hear that you had zero problems with the head spacing. I recently snagged a AAC 260 barrel myself to give it a whirl. Planning on putting it together this weekend too. Any idea who makes these, there are no markings what so ever on the barrel as far as I can tell?

Shot this rifle today with some necked up 243 fc brass. It would should three out five shots real well and then there would be two fliers. I shot one group that end up being 3-4" but after inspecting the cases I found 8 split necks and 4-5 in the large grouping were split. I guess i will toss this lot and try some 308 brass necked down. Even with these problems and the fliers I had some 5 shot groups the were in the .8 range and three shot groups in the .4 range using 42 grains of 4350 and 140 grain smks's.

I was able to get my barrel headspaced a while ago and went ahead and Cerakoted the action while I had it stripped down. It's in an oven while I type this. Should get it put together tonight and run some loads through it in the morning. I'll be using some virgin Remington brass as that is all I have at the moment. Have 123 gr amax, 140gr Hornady match, 142gr SMK's to name a few.

Limited on time I was only able to get a few shots down range after putting this together.

I simply bore sighted with my eye , fired one round at a 100 yards and was about 8 inches low and 3 inches left. I adjusted the reticle and these were the next 9 shots fired down thw AAC 260 barrel. Powder charge is indicated which was H-4350, 142 SMK, Fed 210 and Rem brass.

Doesnt tell much with only 3 shot groups but its a start. .5 .8 and .7

I read it three times thinking the same thing. Shouldn't it NOT close on NO-GO?

ETA: just read it again, said it passed both tests.

OCW for mine came in at 42.8 gr of H4350 under 140 VLD or 142 SMK

OAL Head-Tip: 2.856" to the lands with 142 SMK and 2.900" to the lands with the VLDs.

5-shot group at 400yds. Group Height: 0.32" or 0.076 MOA.

I think the horizontal stringing was my fault, poor trigger pull. I still have alot of practicing to do. Shrapnel look courtesy of 142 SMKs on steel plates below the target board.
