Looking for a little insight on the AAC Titan qd. I bought one and then read some not so good reviews on hiw it mates up to the brake/mount. Can I expect good accuracy and reliability out of this can? It will be used on an AXMC long action with 6.5cm, 308, 7 saum, 300NM and 338LM barrels.

I've got one that's been used on an AX in .338 Lapua and .300 Norma. It's repeatable and the mounts I have lock up solid. My rifle performs the same with or without the can in regards to accuracy, with a minor shift in POI between mounting vs not mounted.

i had one on my 338 AI AXMC, and it shot great. If i had to do it again i would however buy a Thunderbeast Ultra 338 as AAC CS sucks and they have al but fallen off the suppressor innovation map since Remington bought them.

I can set you at ease somewhat. Their cans are nice. It's true they aren't innovators anymore, but many of the better cans out there use similar technology to one another. The more innovative companies also tend to be the more gimmicky ones too (Sico is an exception). Innovation without proper testing first is what drove AAC under. FWIW, the SDN6's and 556SD's that I have fit 51T mounts, which are horrible, but the cans themselves work as well if not better than some others. The flash hiders "PING!" when fired, but you won't have this problem. The brakes don't do that.

CS sucks but IME it got better right after Remington took over. A mount that AAC screwed me over for 3 years was replaced no problem. Not sure how they are doing now, the xxT mounts all have similar problems and they know it, so they quit honoring their own warranty and quit accepting end cap strikes as reasonable warranty work. They tried everything they could to put the blame off on the owner, always insisting the rifle be sent back to have the threads checked (which often are off a bit). Anything to say there's reasonable doubt it was the mount.

They did include the 90T mount on the new sniper rifle Remington is selling the Army. I've heard the 90T actually isn't that bad, like 3rd time is a charm. What you want to do is keep the teeth clean and free from wear, especially excessive wear. When you put it on depress the latch and hold it down as you would when removing it --the more it ratchets, the more it wears those teeth down as well as the teeth on the latch. Don't let it rest on or hit rough or hard surfaces (for soldiers this is sometimes a problem). Hopefully since Army went with it they've got it worked out now. Because it'd be a shame and it'd be bullshit if you have do what I did, the following, in order to make it fit tight and hold decent groups:

If the can has wiggle when it goes on and it's close to engaging the next tooth on the mount, you can polish up the edges of the teeth and carefully polish the beveled portion of the mount that mates to the can. Remove enough material, usually not much, and it'll catch the next tooth and lock up TIGHT. This is what I had to do to a couple of 51T's and they fit tight now, but still ping. If they fit loose but barely move to the next tooth there isn't much you can do without putting it on a lathe or maybe a drill press and removing more material, or just living with it --it'll get better and fit tighter as it gets dirty.

The other option, the no-work option, is to order a handful of mounts (the more the better) and picking one that works and sending the rest back. Or if there's a local dealer that'll let you do that in the store, to find the "right one". I like to do this when I can. That's all I can say about that.

For .338LM I went with Elite Iron, same as with .50. They build solid cans for good prices. TBAC is another good one and probably the ideal choice. But you already bought this one so that's it, right? If so, don't worry, it's actually a very nice can and as long as it fits solid on the mount, you shouldn't have any issues you wouldn't normally have with any other can. And I bet the newer mount and the bigger can probably won't have as many problems as did the 51T SD's. Good luck!

I really appreciate this info Stryker! The Thunder Beast was my first choice but I got a really good deal on the AAC and my dealer was three weeks out on getting a tbac.

No problem, it's what this site is for! Also that's good, like I said, they make good cans IMO/E and the 90T is a better attachment than the 51T I understand. I'm sure you know, but AAC has a sale going on right now on mounts, on everything actually, I went ahead and got a few brakes myself (geez, I hope they fit tight!). Should have got the brake in the first place. Not sure what the deal was on the one you are using, I know they cost more so if you need more now may be the time to get 'em. 51T's are half off, $75 vs. $150.

They have/had some URX 3.1 KAC FF 13.5" rails for $149, which is a killer deal on those. Wish I could have justified 'em, they're damn nice.

Know too that most people that are complaining about these have experience with the 51T and AAC's CS, most don't own 90T mounts --mostly because they got burned on 51T and/or 18T and are probably comparing them to that experience. Most of the people that only own 90T's don't have much to complain about from what I've read. The cans are great like I say, you just need it to mount solid. And like I said, purchasing a few mounts from a dealer that has a good return policy and selecting the one that fits best is a good way to go about this; having to polish or further machine a mount for a system that expensive is beyond the pale of reality. The minor variations in tolerance can make a difference though. If your dealer has the can now, you can also go check the mount you have but you'll need to snugly thread it onto the muzzle to check it (you won't need to time it or Loctite it down until you are sure it's the one you need). Remember to depress the latch always, it'll save the teeth and reduce wear tremendously.

And 3 weeks isn't long when it comes to NFA stuff, the wait is worth it. 41F went into effect last year and there was a huge surge in applications for tax stamps; I waited around 19 months total from purchase to pick up on my last can, bought in early Jun. '16, picked up in late Oct. '17. The Form 4 was submitted after 41F. I usually buy my cans from the mfg., so I'm used to waiting on the Form 3 transfer (which I hear are going very fast now). Times are down for all Forms on all new submissions I'm sure. They used to be around 4-6 months for Form 1/4's before 41F. With the prices and the fact you can't easily sell these or get your money back, it behooves the purchaser to do the research and get the best can they can from the get go, even if it means waiting a few months longer. Being in the Army and being a disabled vet that has to deal with the VA has taught me patience I guess. Hurry up and wait. I order these and then forget about 'em until my dealer calls. I only call him or ATF if the wait goes beyond what is normal for that time. I also buy cans before I buy the rifle sometimes. For instance, I have a .338 can I can't use, don't have the rifle yet, but it's an Elite Iron and I have no concerns. May have to swap the mount out though, I've decided on a McMillan instead of a Sako.

But remember the can you got was good enough for the Army to adopt it for their sniper rifles (or one very similar to it) and though politics I'm sure played a part and Remington had a role, I'm sure they also chose a can that isn't junk. This is their new sniper rifle and I'm sure there'll be upgrades through the years but I'm sure they plan on using this one for a while too.

Good luck, I'm sure your can will be fine and you have nothing to worry about. And if the mount is a problem, like I said, order a few, pick the best one and send the rest back. I kinda have a feeling you'll be good to go though.

Old thread, but great suppressor. One that never goes out of fashion. We just picked up a lot for our M2010 rifles, but also works well with AI, Cadex, Barrett, etc.
Indeed it is! It works great on everything I’ve mounted it to! The only down side is what was stated above, finding a brake that locks up tight…
