Also, someone correct my thinking here. But the kestrel doesn’t actually use DA. It uses temp, pressure, and humidity. It will calculate and show it on another screen, but doesn’t actually use it.
There’s no place to input either DA and a separate temp or an ammo temp as well as ambient temp.
Since the ambient temp affects the bullet flight and the ammo temp affects the MV......how would you go about using say a 30deg ammo temp (frozen) when it’s 85deg ambient outside?
Would you have to basically do all the testing and then turn the table on, manually input the temp as the ammo temp so the velocity is used, turn the MV temp off, and then turn the environment back to live? I think that’s what he was saying at the end, but I’m not 100% sure.
And what happens when it’s 30deg ammo and 85deg ambient AB wants to use a different velocity than your chrono’d to make something like a cdc work. That number would still only work when the ammo temp and the ambient temp were close to the same as those two numbers. So you’re back at the original “problem” he’s attempting to solve.
