We are pleased to announce a significant update to our flagship platform, AB Quantum™, featuring powerful new capabilities such as Weapon Employment Zone Analysis (WEZ), Custom Drag Factor (CDF), and expanded compatibility with Kestrel® 5700/5700X LiNK models. With a long-standing reputation for innovation in long-range shooting, we continue to advance the field with this release. More than a routine upgrade, this update delivers a significant leap forward in ballistic technology, offering shooters enhanced information regarding precision and increased connectivity to products within the Applied Ballistics ecosystem. It may take up to 3 days for all users to access the new features.

When our initial truing capabilities were introduced in 2012, reliable and accurate chronographs were not as readily available as they are today. As a result, we adopted the "true muzzle velocity (MV) first" policy that has guided our practices for the past twelve years. However, with the emergence of advanced Doppler radar-based chronographs, such as the Garmin Xero C1, Labradar and Speedtracker, precise muzzle velocity measurements have become far more accessible.

Given the ability to measure MV accurately, there is now less necessity for MV truing, and any discrepancies in the ballistic solution are likely attributable to other factors. As such, the updated truing policy introduces three options for truing drop data: MV Truing, Custom Drag Factor (CDF) Scaling, and Drop Scale Factor (DSF). By providing these expanded options, shooters can now choose the optimal truing method for their ballistic solution, regardless of the support equipment available to them.

Truing Options:

When you initiate the truing for the first time, all three options are available: MV Truing, CDF Truing, and DSF Truing. However, after the initial truing process, subsequent truing at extended ranges should be limited to DSF. This is because DSF is the only method that can be defined in a piecewise manner without disrupting previous calibrations. Guidance for Truing Selection

We offer two levels of guidance to assist you in selecting the appropriate truing variable:
  • General Guidance: Choose to true the variable in which you have the least confidence.
  • Detailed Guidance:
    • Select MV Truing only if you do not have access to an accurate (Doppler) chronograph during the truing process.
    • If you have an accurate chronograph but are not using a bullet from the library, or if you have not verified scope tracking, DSF should be selected.
    • If you have an accurate chronograph and are using a bullet from the library but have not verified scope tracking, DSF is recommended.
    • If you have an accurate chronograph and are not using a bullet from the library but have verified scope tracking, DSF remains the appropriate option.
    • Only if all three conditions—accurate chronograph, bullet from the library, and verified scope tracking—are met should you opt for Drag Function Scaling.

I’m a dummy but if you do CDF on the app and get your correction, can that correction be utilized on the Kestrel Elite?
Will the Elite get an AB update to have CDF?

Are we to understand that the 5700 ELITE will not be able to connect with the Quantum? Or is it just a matter of time?
I just tried with an iPhone 16 Pro Max to connect a Kestrel 5700 ELITE and the application does not recognize it, does not find it. Instead, I managed to successfully connect a ballistic Garmin Tactix 7 Pro and the status of the application was updated to Elite (y)
Before that, I connected the same Garmin Tactix 7 Pro Ballistic to the Quantum Application installed on the Samsung S21 Ultra, but the application did not change the license status to Elite (the basic status remained unchanged)

My app hasn't been updated yet on an iPhone 16 Pro Max or iPad mini. Until the update gets pushed out, I wouldn't expect it to see the Kestrel. I'm expecting/hoping that all of the 5700 series will work.

All 5700s with AB on them will work. Your app needs to be version 3.2 or newer to be compatible (check your settings page). @adisan77ro

Just got the update on my iPhone and it found the Kestrel with no problem. Not only that, it pushed my rifle profiles TO the Kestrel. Thank you AB for keeping me from having to re-create everything with Kestrel LINK!

WEZ looks fascinating. Cannot wait to get out to the range to get some real use out of it!

Is this a foreshadowing that perhaps analytics desktop is going to be discontinued?
No, because it is still widely used in the industry. Commercially by many companies in the shooting industry, universities use it, all of the military training facilities have it, laboratories, every shall not be named facility uses it..... It is here to stay, we are currently internally testing a version with CDF.

Excellent. I much prefer using it on PC.

So... I have the app updated to 3.2. Let's say I upgrade to the Professional version. OK. I have a 5700 Sportsman with AB and Link. Does the integration that I will have at that point give me the same results/ features on solving ballistics solutions compared to if my Kestrel was upgraded to the "Elite"?

Yes, it will give you results as if your Kestrel was an Elite. But it will not update the Sportsman to an Elite, and it will not transfer firing solutions to the Kestrel.

Doc I see there is a wez upgrade for the 5700x. If I am happy doing wez on your app, am I losing anything else by not upgrading my 5700x to 5700wez?

You are not losing anything if you upgrade the app itself to Pro and use WEZ there. That is the only change to the software on the 5700X-WEZ. No other new features.

So i just got the update and hooked up with my 5700x , the main feature i found so far is being able to stream the wind and direction ( think kestrel hud ) to the app . Which is really cool i can also update all the enviros off the kestrel so it seems like its intended to be used with a kestrel in a weathervane .

The thing i was hoping for that im not seeing is the ability to type out my target card on the app and just push it to the kestrel . And vice versa . It would be really nice to be able to send your whole target card over and play around with the wind direction while watching your POI / hold shifts on the app to do fast wind brackets .

The third thing is i honestley didnt care about the WEZ feature , but it appears to be paywalled behind a professional tier subscription which is a massive bummer . I thought ab elite was the top tier i own 3 ab elite physical devices and have paid for the old app on android and iphone . To be paywalled out of features now is kinda like wtf man ?

All in all tho neat update i just gotta asses if it makes more sense to run this or just stick with the kesterel because without a way to share target card you kinda gotta pick one of the other

Point 2) This iteration was not intended to introduce target card features from AB Quantum to the Kestrels.

Point 3) WEZ is a Pro Level system. The only Kestrel that will unlock that free is the 5700X-WEZ model.

So if I upgrade my 5700x software to 5700x-Wez software, the Pro subscription is included with that? Thx

Yes, the device will need to be paired to the app every 29 days to retain that access.
Point of clarification...
Pairing to a wez model kestrel will upgrade to pro license and unlocks WEZ, CDF cal, and graphing?... or just the wez function?

With the upgrade being an option is there anything additional gained by by paying whatever the pro subscription is vs just upgrading or buying a wez model kestrel?

Once I connect my Kestrel Elite with AB I am able to use the Elite features. When I click on Upgrade Subscription (which still says Ultralight subscription level) I only see the options for the professional Subscription.

However, when I don't have my Kestrel actively connected, I'm unable to use any of the Elite features and I'm prompted to upgrade my subscription, which still says Ultralight but now also shows the Elite level subscription options.

This is what I see when I first open the app if I don't have my weather meter connected:

In the last two days I played a lot with the Quantum application connected to the Kestrel 5700 Elite (both on Samsung and on iPhone) and it gave me a lot of errors. I uninstalled the app, reinstalled with version 3.2.1 (on Samsung), but the errors persist. I also tried the "support" option in the application, but the application also gives an error and closes. Since I made several videos of the screen with the recording of the errors, which are too many and large to upload here, please give me an email address where I can send them to you as feedback

What device are you using? What version of Android?

@mmcmah you need to send that as a support ticket through the app.

@PlinkIt Here is the chart: https://www.snipershide.com/shootin...te-3-2-wez-kestrels-cdf.7244977/post-11976777

I thought I was missing something (which is very possible), but now I got another video from a friend who is also experiencing one of the profile sync errors I described
Are you trying to run both devices at once? I would suggest not jumping back and forth a lot so the cloud server can stabilize.

Can a Vector-X or Sig gen2 grant pro access?
No. Neither of those are AB+ or WEZ devices.

I did not use them at the same time. They were connected separately and while one was connected the other had the Bt connection turned off just to avoid any interference
Application blocking problems when trying to synchronize profiles between Kestrel and Quantum, a friend who used a Samsung A34 5G also told me today

In short, the problems observed yesterday and today are as follows:
- App crash when syncing profiles with Kestrel. At Samsung it went for 1 hour without result and at Apple it recognized that there are 7 profiles of which in a few seconds it synchronized 2-3 then it got blocked
- The Export profile function does not work well. The application either closes or jumps to the Shoot page. Only two out of 7 profiles generated that QR code
- Being connected to Kestrel, if you ask to update environmental or target data (Controllers)by pressing the device icon, the app brings some data, but it is not the data from Kestrel (temperature, humidity, pressure / azimut, inclination etc. are totally different from the data in Kestrel), regardless of whether Environmental from Kestrel is set to Live or off
- If you press the "support" icon in the next step, when you press "Continue", the Quantum application gives an error and closes.

P.S. : Yesterday I had version 3.2.0, and today I uninstalled the Qantum application, I reset the phone and reinstalled Quantum with version 3.2.1, (on Samsung) but the problems persist as described above

1. When using WEZ and selecting different "Confidence" levels High, Medium, Low or Custom the number that auto populate in the different data points means + or - by whatever the number is given correct?

Example when choosing Medium for Range it auto populates 10 Y so that means the Range error shouldn't be off by any more than 10 Y + or - correct?

Have you ever noticed this situation in the application?
I started to think that there might be some incompatibility with my Samsung A54 phone, but I also installed the application on a Samsung Note 9 and saw that things look the same.
There are a few brands of scopes where the options seem fine, but in the case of the majority things seem mixed with mentions of Berger ammunition. I noticed this when I saw that the settings related to scopes and reticles disappeared from my profiles. Now the mention "null" appears and when I wanted to reset the reticle and scope option, I saw the errors in the attached images.

P.S. Today, I noticed that the live wind and environment data update works during the Kestrel connection. In the target data, only the distance is updated without the fire direction and angle

1) Is your app up to date? Are you on version 3.2.3+ for Android or newer? It appears you are still on an outdated version.
2) Do you have the PIN function turned off on the Kestrel? (This is necessary)
3) Do you have a good battery in place? New?

We cover all of this in the video. They are not all the same, I would suggest giving it a watch.

Kestrel is working as intended in that case.

Those are place holders, it means the data has not been downloaded. That's an indicator for us. It is best to do this over WIFI, as with 700 high quality reticle images it can take a while.

I noticed on the WEZ parameters that rifle precision is listed in MRAD. Which is no issue, other than in the user manual it's listed for example that high confidence would be .5 MOA, where in the app it's listed as .5 MRAD. I don't mind entering the precision in either format, I just have to wonder if the calculation is still using the input as MOA or if that box is mistakenly mislabeled MRAD. Because the numbers for the preset confidence levels seem to match MOA, where .5 MRAD is pretty crappy precision to be considered high confidence.
