I am having a hard time finding solid information on this subject. Is the AWP is really a real rifle? Does anyone out there have one in their possession they want to share? I have acquired an "AWP" rifle from a private sale and it's basically a short fluted barrel AW rifle. It was issued with black skin and black steel case. The production year is 2008.

Regardless, I know I got a really great rifle but just want to get some clarification on what truely is an AWP.

AWP should have a 24" non-fluted barrel. It's an Arctic Warfare just the same

Back in the day a non-green stock and a different barrel length was notable...not so much today as more barrel/color/stock options rendered that "special order" stuff moot.

After some looky-loo on the internet, I think the subjected rifle is in fact a 20" fluted Arctic Warfare .308 and not 24" AWP. I just gona call this AW-Covert

Yes it's genuine. I've seen more than a few of those back in the day. You'd probably have to contact AI for more detailed info, but here's a sample of one of those:

I think the AW Covert was the integrally suppressed model.

Covert is correct. The covert is an integrally suppressed .308. I'm trying to put one together right now. I have the rare parts (barrel, suppressor and suitcase). I just need a nice AW folder to use as the doner body. I don't want to use the one I currently have because it's too nice to sacrifice. Sorry for the crummy pic quality, but here's a covert:

You know it’s not really sacrificing your rifle. The barrels are easy to change

The AWP models were specifically marketed towards the law enforcement market, thus the 20" barrel.
