Gunsmithing Accuracy international muzzle break

Re: Accuracy international muzzle break

I was looking at a used AI barrel that had a break already on it and wanted to have it cut down to 22". I have a suppressor threaded for 5/8 24. I wasn't sure if the break could be rethreaded to match.

Re: Accuracy international muzzle break

Badger FTE. We prolly install 10 a month. Made right next door to us so if we ever have a ? Or issue its a 100' walk to a solution.

Just know that the thread profile is a bit different from most brake designs. There's a stepped shoulder behind the threads. Your can will prolly still work, but it may look a little weird.

Good luck.

Re: Accuracy international muzzle break

Take a look at the MRAD brake by R & D precision. Does not require the FTE step. Weighs alot less. Easy on/off for cleaning and can. I wish Randy had been selling them a few years ago.

but i have no plans of making another one.

Re: Accuracy international muzzle break

Honestly I have to tell you to ditch the AI brake and ditch the Badger FTE suggestions too.

Get it threaded 5/8x24 and get either the brake above from Randy (HateCA here) or the one I'm using right now is the Benchmark barrels muscle brake. Both are lighter than the FTE, don't have to be timed or have the barrel stepped and work equally as well (I think the Benchmark works even better, but no data to prove that).

Re: Accuracy international muzzle break

Thanks guys. I have a rifle with a badger break. I had LA Precision make a thread protector that covered up the step. I did not like the way the barrel looked when I did not have the break on. I was not sure if the AI had the same step in the barrel.
