I did a hillbilly bed job on my Savage with JB Weld. I wasn't particularly impressed with it not bedded and figured I had nothing to lose. I removed a bit of the material around the receiver on the Boyd's pro varmint (actually it's the tacticool when I got it). I started by setting steel pillars in the stock and applying the epoxy to them, a piece of 1/8" flatstock for the mag well and the trigger guard. I stripped the receiver down and bolted it in after I applied the bedding. It all worked out well. Everything came apart and there were only a few surface voids.
My question is would playing around with torque settings have any effect at this point?
