Gunsmithing Adjusting the Geissele trigger

Re: Adjusting the Geissele trigger

That PDF file from Creedmore is The same as what came with my triggers.
Follow the link Trigger Monkey gave you.

Re: Adjusting the Geissele trigger

If I were you, I'd read that pdf over and over again. I read that 3 times over BEFORE I had actually gotten the trigger itself. Then when the trigger came in, I sat down with my lower and took about an hour total reading, "tuning" the first stage and installing everything else with checking the sear engagement then finally tuning the 2nd stage break weight.

You WON'T be disappointed... trust me this is THE best trigger for AR platforms, why? Because it just is. haha

Darn good advise here.

Bottom line is the Creedmore post is acurate? First thing I'm doing is getting a trigger pull scale. The Gieselle doesn't feel any lighter than my RRA NM... almost 4 pounds is my guess.

Re: Adjusting the Geissele trigger

Yep, the Creedmoor post is accurate. That's the instructions I used after I misplaced my paper copy.

Which trigger do you have? Geissele sells three triggers: the Service Trigger, the DMR trigger, and the Match trigger. That's also the rough order of pull weight, from heavy to light. If you bought the Service trigger I would imagine it won't feel much or any lighter than your Rock River trigger, but it should feel better.

You're SURE you have the Geissele HI-SPEED trigger and NOT the Geissele SSA trigger correct? If its the SSA it is NOT adjustable, the HI-SPEED is. Just making sure because you didn't state exactly which trigger you had in the first place.

If it is the SSA then 4 pounds is right for the 2nd stage break weight. This is NOT adjustable.

Oh a REPR?.... If this is the trigger the rifle came with then I think its the SSA. Sorry I didn't catch this before...

What you can do (and I'm not responsible for any mishaps from this) is remove the trigger and bend the trigger spring legs up from the beginning of the coils about 15 degrees. Cut the right (mag release side) hammer spring leg 1/3rd shorter (keep in mind that this will reduce your hammer spring force a little). I did this before, but NOT on a SSA trigger as there really is no need for it. Mainly stock "battle" triggers and it works.

I would just leave it how it is or sell it and buy the GA Hi-speed DMR or match trigger.

Re: Adjusting the Geissele trigger

Thanks all, for the input. I will run with it for the short term. Maybe ask Sean Little to check it out when I see him at Quantico. Is the trigger as good as it gets out of the box or does break in over time? maybe lube might help?

So its the Geissele SSA and not the Hi-speed correct?

Re: Adjusting the Geissele trigger

Then that would be the Hi-speed trigger. The PDF instructions on page 1 (from the creedmoor site) is what you need to follow to make adjustments.
