I understand that AW barrels are interchangeable on AE rifles, and I have it on good authority that there is no impingement on the recoil lugs when running an AW barrel in an AE; but for those of you who are doing it, what is the demonstrated advatage of running the longer tennon barrel in the AE?

I had a spare custom match barrel for an AW that I recently fitted up to my old AE Mk1.
I dont know if there is any advantage ( from the tennon area only ) of using an AW barrel in an AE. I did it because it is what I had on hand. It fits, it works. The only difference is that there is a porton of threaded AW barrel going through the recoil lug where previously there was a section of non threaded AE barrel.
To my mind it just simplifies the supply process for me. I'll just get AW barrels made up, with the knowledge that I can use them in either the AW or the AE.

Is the AW barrel made to any better standard than the AE? I have an AE MkI and would consider that as a replacement when I shoot the current barrel out (a while from now).

The reason for the original post was that I had heard from a reliable source that some people are running AW barrels in AE's for good reason. I am trying to confirm what that good reason is. Does anyone know?

The only thing I could think of a 'good reason' would be resale or marketing.
If you have an AW threaded barrel you can sell it to any AE/AW rifle owner.
