Advise on a build

It has been awhile since I've been here (too long!). With a new job (PCS), bike wreck, school, changing positions in my job, and a new baby my life has been jam packed as well as funds haven't been there. So I I'm trying to get back in the game so to say and decided an AR build is in store.

The only part I have is a stripped lower. I picked it up at a gun show for 100 dollar bills (aero precision). I am trying to figure out what other parts I need to complete my built. I do know that the upper is going to be a 400-600yrd gun. I figure I can build a different upper for other applications.

I do not care (or really know) about manufacturers of different parts. All I want is a good price and quality gear.

So my gear list is:
Lower-Aero Precision (purchased)
Upper- Midway hase Yankee Hill Machine stripped upper for 84 bucks. Not sure if it's a good deal but the price is right.
Butt stock- I want a Magpul PRS but not dead set on it.
Handguards- I dont need any rails or any thing like that. Should I go Aluminum or Carbon Fiber?
Barrel- Holy cow are there alot of barrels out there. I am completely lost in that aspect.
Gas Block- Should I go adjustable?
LPK- Lots of different makers. I imagine they are all good but I want reliable that has a decent trigger that I don't have to up grade right away.
UPK- If I get a stripped upper basically i want good parts that are reliable.
Barrel extension/bolt- Should I get them together (matched parts) or will I be ok purchasing them separately?

Is there anything I am missing?

Also are there any no nonsense books out there that will help guide me through my build? Also what tools do I have to HAVE to have and what can I get by with out of my tool box. Thank for the help in advance and I will post my progress.

Man you might look at some of the drop-in uppers, you can save money that way if you're not going to go too custom which it looks like you're not.

You're okay using a new barrel extension and new bolt together, assuming the barrel extensions been properly headspaced to a barrel.

Don't forget a bipod and sighting system.

Put the money into a good barrel, pretty much everything else milspec parts are fine but some people like a match grade bolt too.

When I start an AR build I usually get one of the kits from Del-ton, or some other milspec parts supplier, and upgrade the barrel and trigger later. I've used M1S, Del-Ton, and RRA before and I think the Del-ton parts are as good as any, and better than some.

You could go with a del ton 20" kit. Get an a2 stock with it and you can swap out parts before you order.

Tools, you need for sure an action / armorers wrench, action blocks, a good bench vise, a set of brass punches, roll pin punches, and a brass hammer.
