Advise on a heavy duty AICS bipod

Looking to buy a heavy duty bipod for my new AICS chasis. I've had harris bipods and they are great, just not as rugged as they could be. I also can't bring myself to pay $300+ for a AICS. Atlas makes a fantastic setup but still in the $220 range. Any suggestions for a cheaper and just as rugged solution? Or should I just suck it up and buy the Atlas? thanks in advance.

If you are not in need of something right away, you might consider waiting on the V10 Atlas.

GG&G makes a nice heavy duty bipod but its not really that much cheaper. I would wait for the new Atlas and if you don't like it you will not have any trouble selling it.

Any idea when they are coming out? Is the V10 the new model or just a bigger V8? Either way, thanks for the info and I'll look into it. I don't need anything tomorrow. We shoot from inside benchrest for the winter.

So I just read an older post from Kasey (from Accu-Shot) who says there are two new models coming out..someday. The V10 is going to be for 338+ calibers, a little too big for my 6.5/08 short action.

The GG&G XDS is sick! Designed for heavys like the AR30 of which I had in 300wm and sold it for my build and seems to offer the same as the atlas. Now to find out if they carry the aics spigot.

The Long Range Accuracy Bipod is great for your application ( I use it for the same) but expensive, if there is a better one I haven't seen it. The Atlas is nice and I have a couple, but I use them in more lightweight applications. The problem is availability, they have been hard to come by.

1957pistol - I'm not sure what you mean by "not as rugged as they could be." but IMHO, Harris makes the best bipod in that price range. In my mind on such matters it is always a question of weight to result gained, the Atlas delivers more functionality than any other bipod and weighs less at a higher price.

The V10 will borrow from the patented features of the V8 and we are adding some very cool innovative design elements to create a lightweight strong product at a reasonable cost.

And yes, we are behind on this project, sorry. I wrestled with one aspect of the V10, could not get peace about going the obvious way towards solution. I was blessed with an novel idea, that is going to set our V10 (part # BT35 Atlas-5H) heavy bipod apart from the others. I'm taking February off from the grind and getting the V10 ready for prototyping.

Also, GG&G makes great gear and while I've never held their XDS, I do not believe it has "Pan". All Atlas bipods have 15+/- degrees of PAN and 15+/- degrees of CANT.

Another option is the versa-pod which is an AI clone but less $$$.

Either one of Kasey's Atals Bi-pods or a Harris. You can purchase an Atlas directly from Kasey or both can be purchased through Steve at Triad Tactical. Both genltemen are great to deal with and Kasey will stand by his product and warranty. I am currently running a Harris 6-9 noctched swivle with pod claws on my AICS.

Suck it up and buy the Atlas. It's expensive but it'll travel to any gun you buy in the future.

Every time I go shooting I find myself taking the time to switch the one Atlas I have to whatever gun I'm currently behind. After shooting the Atlas the other bipods just feel cheap and flimsy.

I have two v8 already but will still consider getting the v10 when available. More excuse to buy another rifle to mount it on!

Thanks for the update Kasey. The more I think about it the more I agree with TexasClassIII. I have over 4k into my dream rifle (glass included) I can't cheap out now when it comes to quality.
As far as the Harris, I agree, they are the best in their price range and I have used them for years.

I like the atlas because its beefy. I also really like the fact that you took the time to answer my questions. You just don't see that with a lot of companies these days. It shows pride in your work with an understanding of your customer base and the willingness to make one sale at a time. Thanks again Kasey. Atlas it is.

Go with the atlas for your chassis. I have two with another on the way.
