I didn’t care too much about the short action release, but I’m tentatively excited about this one.

I’m not really interested in PRS shooting but I have been thinking thinking hard about putting together a lightweight 7 PRC rig for elk and western hunts. So this might fit the bill when it actually hits the market.

I have both Origin and Solus actions and they both shoot. The only reason I tried the Solus was that it was available and the Origin is out of stock and doesnt have an ETA. Plus pre-fits fit between both actions and really the only tangible difference I feel between either is because of the bolt lift design, 2 lugs vs 3 lugs

Is there that little demand for .223 bolt guns?

Would have been much easier to start selling a new bolt head, I just kind of subconsciously expected that would be the next offering

I keep asking and they have no ETA “but it is planned”. I agree with you though and I’m probably going with something else based on the timeline

I've been trying to get my hands on a good .223 bolt gun, 2 actually, but apparently so has everyone else. I've got an old Remington TAC in .223 and .308. A good action and a 6.8 SPCII barrel isn't the next project but it's getting closer.

I'd like to build a 7PRC or PRCW on a Solus action too. I guess patience is needed.

origin will blow it out of the water - just buy something quality.
So, have you actually put your money where your mouth is, and bought or even handled one in person yet since they've been out for almost 2 years now, and you've been shit-talking them since before they even released to the public?

Probably not, just a slow day and back on your bullshit train, huh?

Are they supporting shouldered prefits yet?
I don't know. But it's a long action magnum. The prefit market isn't real big for those anyway. Outside of ELR most people are shooting them as hunting rifles and that barrel will be on their gun for 10-15years. Kind of loses the big draw that prefits offer.

Yeah, and if it only was a 60 degree bolt throw.

Now the other direction; if Aero could only make it weigh 28 oz. Their short action weighs 36 oz.

Are there prefits for the Evo II?

There’s trade offs.
Mack Bro's light weight steel action weighs 20oz. I don't know why anyone would even buy a Defiance Anti anymore with this option available, much less an Aero.

True, other than the hassle and expense to have a gunsmith barrel it for you. I wonder if they will take remage barrels with a nut?

I bought the Solus because it’s 60 degree bolt throw and I can swap barrels, if I want, between it and my Origin action. If I was going light for a hunting gun that Element action would be just the thing!

They are guaranteed headspace, so it would take a prefit fine. The catch is that thread start isn't consistent enough to properly index caliber markings and logos.

Well, probably doesn't matter anyway because if you want an affordable long action magnum with a short bolt throw a company with better pedigree already makes one.

Defiance has a sale on medium length "classic" actions with magnum bolt faces and 75° throws for $890 right now.

Doesn't seem like a bad choice...
