Does anyone know when/if Aero will be releasing the stand alone 223 bolt face Solus actions? What about Solus 223 rifles? I know they have released the pistols in 223, but interested in the stand alone actions or rifle.

Midway had an ETA of 8/21 for the bolt face, now says overdue. I'm not sure what the hold up is if they've already got pistols available for sale. If it functions in bolt action pistol format, I'd think it would work in a rifle too. Frustrating.

Yeah, it's been almost 2 months, and they still haven't shipped my pistol yet... According to the lady there, she said they were building them now and shipping as fast as they can (funny considering I bought mine the day they released...🙄). Said it was supposed to ship in August...Still waiting...

The action is the same, so, yes, I'd assume the bolt head will be identical, other than inside diameter of the face.

Update… I’m still waiting on my .300 BLK Solus pistol…With zero updates from Aero on when a $2000 order will ship… 🙄🙄🙄
Have you contacted them?

I ordered some barrels from their blemish/contract over run sale and two out of the three shipped. There's no ETA on the third. Their response is that they're really backed up on shipping and will get it out as soon as possible. I'm not mad about it but I also didn't spend 1900 bucks on a pistol...

Has ANYONE gotten a damned Solus pistol yet? lol. I want one but not at 1900 bucks and not if i'm going to be waiting an eternity for it to ship. I'll wait.

I’ve gotten a rifle and barrel shipped and delivered since…Just not the Solus Pistol… 🙄

I plan on calling them Today.

Website says Solus pistols will ship in November of 2024. That's a new note, correct? I don't recall seeing that before but I either missed it or I don't remember.

Must be new. When I ordered, on the day of the release, they said nothing about pre-ordering. Then weeks later, I called and the lady said it said August, which it didn’t say that on the day of the purchase. So with no shopping at the end of August, I called back, she said issues with the .30 cal barrels had to be sent back and replaced…4-6 more weeks tops… fast forward to today, still no answer from CS chat after waiting for nearly an hour. So I told them to call me with an update. I’ll keep the thread updated.

I've been hearing "soon" now from Aero for probably 8 months. They haven't let dealers place backorders for actions or bolt heads either.
Yeah, I've noticed that most everybody is sold out of actions... I'm hoping to snag an Obsidian .478" action on Black Friday deals at Aero, to spin on that stupid CarbonSix 7 SAW barrel once it comes back. Or if it's also garbage, then refund, and get a Proof 7 SAW prefit built for it.

Anything not to buy an Origin, huh...

Have fun with that wait
I already bought the Solus and paid for it... 4.5 months ago. They just haven't shipped the fucking thing yet.

And I don't have anything against an Origin, I've just figured out these Solus actions, and I really like them once I get them broken in and slicked-up. They're incredibly robust and beefy, and I like the features.

A couple things I don't like about the Origin, is the traditional (non-integral) recoil lug, and the non-integral 20MOA rail. The Solus has both of those precision machined into the action, so you never have to worry about them. And If you've ever had all 4 base screws break under recoil at once, and a $3,500 scope hit the bench, you will learn to not really put a lot of trust in removable scope bases anymore...Even though all my other rifles ARE bolt-on, and I've never had that problem before in the past, but all it took was that one time, and it ruined my trust in them... From now on, every rifle I build or buy, will have a machined-in integral 20MOA rail. Plus, as a bonus, it's guaranteed concentric and straight.

The scope rail on the Origin uses dowel pins to absorb recoil. The screws don't take the recoil. It's not hard to make a very reliable non-integral scope rail. It's really a non-issue. Do you know how many M24's used non-integral scope rails over the 25 plus years of service? And how many screws broke and had $1200 Leupold scopes fall off guns? I've never seen one have that issue. And to sit here and act like it's some big issues that needs a solution. If this was happening, it would've precipitated a solution in that program. Clearly never required one. I have zero actions with integral scope rails. Never had an issue.

PS, we all know you don't have $3500 scopes. You buy used Khales 6x24's. Pls edit your post to reflect $2500 scopes.
Funny you assume you know everything I own... And you are completely Incorrect. Also, the fact you act so fucking butthurt over someone not liking everything about your precious Origin action is hilarious. You are doing exactly what you claim others are doing...The hypocrisy and irony is palpable.

Also, have you priced a K318i lately? What about a $3,100 Nightforce ATACR F1? Or a $4,800 MSRP thermal scope? And no, I've never bought a used Kahles scope. All of my K624i's and K318i were brand new. So were all my high-end scopes...NF, Zeiss, etc... So, enjoy eating that crow.

$3,300+ tax...

Those sons of b****** have finally done it!

That was kinda my point - they tease us with a .455 bolt head being listed on the chart, but don't (yet) offer it.

Seems like the cost of bolt heads is in line with others in the industry (Zermatt, ARC, etc).
Making it just another action in the same price range … not a bad thing, but doesn't make them as competitive as I originally thought they would be. Although they do have sales on them more often.

For an action that was marketed as an affordable competitor, $150 for a bolt head doesn't seem that way. Could be just me though.
Actions can be had regularly for under $700. That bolt head is like $120 with the current sale. Missed out on the sale? Wait 3 weeks for the next one.
Is there a competitor that comes close with 2 bolt heads?

I’ll be a Guinea pig… Just ordered a bolt head and an action wrench. I’m in no rush for it, so start the timer.

You and me both.

I swung into the LGS today to let them know I put an order in for one and listed them as the receiving FFL. They mentioned that when they sold whatever Aero inventory they had remaining, they weren't going to carry Aero any more. Sounds like they've had issues getting orders filled - and we're a couple hours away (other side of the state).

I don't think they are going for ultra light - just lighter weight hunting actions. It weighs ~20% less than the standard Solus.

None of the barrel choices even make sense with this new offering yet. I was hoping to see them offering lighter profiles.

Never mind - they have sporter profile barrels up now, in a few calibers. No weights listed yet.

Their “sporter” profiles are very heavy for sporter. There almost Sendero profile. They’re basically a full 26” Light Palma design, then chopped to whatever length they want it to be. Because my 20” sporter 6.5 CM barrel is the right diameter at the muzzle, as if you took a light Palma 26” barrel, then chopped 6” off. Lots of meat there for a positive shoulder with 5/8-24 threads for a can.

Also, the muzzle threads are always dead-on for all of my factory Aero barrels.

It also shoots ridiculously good for a factory barrel, with my handloads.

I ordered three actions on 11/19, one of which was a .223. All shipped a few days ago. Waiting for them to arrive.
Once my items ship, I always get them fast. It's just the wait time getting them to actually ship out that seems to take forever...

I'm glad all my stuff is finally in now, so I don't have to keep waiting. Hopefully, they'll get shit turned-around by the time they have their next big sale.

I'm wondering if Aero simply makes to order instead of stocking inventory and have a horribly slow shipping department. I ordered an action, a few barrels, .223 & magnum bolt faces back on December 3rd 2024. They shipped the magnum bolt face alone Jan 8th 2025, the barrels were shipped Jan 16th 2025 & there is no word (nor any way to actually contact anyone) on the action or the .223 bolt face.

The worst part is they simply have not staffed the phone or chat to come even close to the volume they need. (I was on hold for about 2 hours before they hung up & the chat for most of the day before it disconnected because they double charged for the bolt faces) I wish I'd just spent the extra money for a Big Horn action but like someone already said, I really like the idea of a few hundred dollars cheaper with the lug & rail machined in...but not sure if it is really worth it at this point.

There's always the option of buying in-stock merchandise from a third-party retailer like Brownells, though likely at higher cost than Aero's sales (especially their Nov-Dec sales).

Lack of response to phone or email queries is unsat regardless of time of year.
