Gunsmithing Aesthetically pleasing Barrel Nut

I guess its kind of an oxymoron to some (most), but I'm having a hard time liking any of the barrel nut options for savage shoulder-less barrels. they all have a savage type taper to them. Is there a reason for this? I'm kinda digging the PVA tikka barrel nut with the straight taper. I've searched the interwebs to no avail... could I have a smith spin one up or is there something I'm missing?

What I'd really like it a straight taper with a castle type wrench interface (savage barrel nut wrench) , maybe even a lip. I feel like this would add just a hint of cheytac/pipe gun feel to my build.

Yeah, I'd buy a couple of those, would prefer the 'hunting' inlet to minimize any possible stock interference. My Manners stock doesn't have much room for a lip.

I guess its cost dependent, but Id like 3 total. If they cost an arm and a leg then id be OK sharing one for all the barrels.

That was a thought but it seems like a lot of chassis are leaving extra room, that being said function is final. Ill do some looking at factory inlets.

I was trying to politely imply that getting a custom nut made is going to cost you for 1.

Keep in mind that the $30 barrel nut we already make for Savages, Remage, TRG, AI, etc. is made in a batch of 100's at a time. Which is why the economy is there to charge $30 for a SS nut, $35 for a nitrided one.

Same with the Tikka, Ruger American, Ruger Precision nuts we make. The last run of barrel nuts was over 1000pcs and the machine ran for 6 days.

I understood however I've been "probably will buy it" convinced into projects before only to see them sit and sit and finally go in the scrap bin in the name of space consolidation. We already make this in a lot of thread options, some of which have no peers from other companies. Even if the OP buys 3 I still have 47 that need to go before it validates the project. You said above that you like the concept but want changes.

What if we just knock the lip off and make it like the Tikka nuts do? That would suffice for what you're asking for but the OP specifically wants a lip that fits his savage pattern wrench.

Standard 1-1/4" wrench, clean tapered look that matches up to the face of the action. Minimal (if any) inletting needed to drop into existing stocks.

honestly, I just want something that looks different from the normal savage look. but every barrel nut out there follows the same general shape. The BarLoc is different but wont fit a Bighorn origin and the BarLoc itself is clunky (subjective) . Thought I'd at least ask. If there were something Different out there that made the ugliest part of any shoulderless barrel easier to look at, I think that product would stand out and there would be a market. But i also understand that you're the successful businessman and I'm just one voice. I may go to my local machine shop and follow this up with them.

It would need to be expanded in size to make it big enough but that could be done.

Bighorn makes the "seamless" nut which uses a tapered interface, spraug clutch torque wrench to lock it on. That's probably the cleanest thing I've seen.

The Origin does fit the BarLoc, we make regular barrel nut barrels for BarLocs all the time, same as making shouldered barrels to use the no-nut version of the BarLoc. In fact I cut 2 of the latter today for a guy that ordered matched 223 barrels for his sons.
