Anyone have any links? I saw one on another person's gone, it was not mounted onto a Spuhr. It just attach to the pickets any rail between the scope rings

it didn't occur to me how cool it was until days later

Hawk Hill makes a really nice one that is pic rail or Spuhr mounted, but its $100+.
Sidewinder is a more affordable option but not as nicely made.

Since you said "affordable" I'll toss in my current dope holder as an option.

Velcro w/peel stick adhesive ... small square stuck to the front of the scope bell in front of the scope ring.
Small square of white plastic, cut to the size of a business card, small square of velcro on the back
Grease pencil
Eye dropper w/ lighter fluid for cleaning off the grease pencil.

Total cost was $3 for the grease pencil, everything else was on hand or free. Works in the rain, you're not going to break it, it's in a perfect spot to see the dope when you look up to adjust turrets, and when you're not using it all you don't even notice the small velcro square on the scope.

What do you consider affordable? You could easily buy a cheap pic rail attachment on Amazon, use a "Nite Ize Gear Tie", then just attach something to hole your dope card to the gear tie. Pretty inexpensive option.

Laminate whatever kind of range card you want, buy a flexible cable wrap at office depot and cut a few pieces of peel and stick Velcro. Use a dry erase fine tip marker. It will last forever, easily change or customize your dope card. It will bend or fold up in your rifle case. Only costs a few bucks.

Just for fun I fabricated these two simple QD holders as I wanted to have it adjustable along the rail. If anyone is interested I will post the steps in fabrication I used.

The QD ring is unnecessary if desired as you just hold the device like a pen and activate the QD. IMG_4020 copy.JPG

If you guys have any design preferences, I'd be interested in making one.

Slightly off subject but KAC used to have an iPod Touch holder that used some case that's out of production. Any chance something for the IPhone could be thrown together? I use a 6s+ but have an old 5s that's suitable for a dedicated rifle ballistics computer.

I know its not cheap but the hawk hill is simply bad ass and built so well its worth getting it. it folds so nicely and compact along the scope and the detents and adjustability of the arm is awesome

^^ Others experiences may be different but when I have tried to use the iPhone set up off the rifle I find 2-3 limitations.
1. Not able to manipulate the screen with gloves.
2. Just when I position the screen so the glare is absent, the angle to view the screen is all screwed up.
3. It's harder to manipulate the screen with my left digits than my dominant right hand digits.

Id love a quick run down of this rig. can you email it to me? [email protected]

I laminated 2 3x5 notecards. Added some sticky backed velcro strips to both cards. Wrap a rubberized gear tie around the body of my scope with the "legs" sticking out to the side. Write dope on the non-velcro side of the card. Sandwich the legs of the gear tie between the velcro of the 2 cards. Easy. Cheap. Reusable. Sharpie is impervious to rain but erases with some denatured 100% ethanol that I carry in a small spray bottle in my gear bag.

Hawk Hill and X Ring are excellent. I have and use both. Hawk Hill makes an outstanding quality piece of equipment. If cost is not a concern- Hawk Hill all the way. Having said that—-X Ring is hard to beat for the money.

FYI -Yow-Tech mounts between scope mounts on a "in spec" picatinny rail. I have seen several guys use the the block scope mounts that take up all the rail between scope mounts.

We have a design that will attached to M-Loc in the works.....

If you want to go the really affordable route, i used cut up sections of bike inner tube to hold my dope card to my stock. It's not so secure you cant remove or flip it easily but it stays put when I want it to.
