Aftermarket CZ455 Barrel

If you are looking for great accuracy go with a Lilja barrel.

I second this. You will probably need to adjust the headspace on any drop in to get it to an optimal .043 and Lilja is the only one that includes the shims for this. I have a Fedderson and it shoots great, but only after I adjusted headspace with bolt shims. Fedderson also stopped producing theirs. Whistlepig also makes one that has a liner in an aluminum shroud so that should be light. CZ was supposed to be making factory carbon fiber barrels. Not sure if those would be for sale by themselves or only as part of the new rifles.

Hadn’t heard of the carbon fiber barrel but that would be nice!

Anyone try the integrally suppressed barrels?

Why take a chance on a very, very expensive (both in time and $$) barrel that may not shoot well? Suppressor is stuck on that one item and if it's a dog then you are doubly screwed. At least if it's just a barrel, you can replace it easily without expensive federal paperwork. Get a standard thread on can and enjoy it across multiple host and avoid the accuracy lottery headache. Seriously, cans on my CZ455 make it so quiet all you hear is the firing pin strike and the bullet impact.

2nd bitch against the CZ integral, the way they made the baffle system thread into the suppressor tube body looks like a disaster waiting to happen---screw out baffles with the thread exposed to all the carbon/lead debris from the 22 propellant charge gases. Even with their "proprietary lead crud busting threads" on the baffles this looks like it will get gummed up and broken pretty quick.

Too bad Fedderson stopped CZ barrel production. Was trying to order a 16" most of the summer, now I know why it was never in stock or available to order.

MPA is making and fitting Schneider/MPA .920 straight contour barrels from 16-24", muzzle threads or target crown and your choice of cerakote or polished for CZ 455's.

Look for a review shortly. They are spinning up and fitting one to my CZ 455 action for testing/review here on the Hide.

What's the cost on this? I had been wanting to call and ask if they would do a barrel only. I know they sell the whole rifle.

How are factory 455 barreled actions in terms of the head spacing?

My understanding is most have too much headspace. Mine was 0.046, I brought it down to 0.042 and saw a reduction in my groups.

If the headspace is too much, you can easily adjust it with shims on the bolt.

Can the headspace be adjusted on a factory barrel? And if so who sells shims?

That would work only if your headspace was too tight and you would move the barrel away from the bolt with the shims. The factory guns usually have the opposite, they have too much headspace and you need to tighten it up. Lilja might sell shims to you, not sure. If you were to set back the shoulder on your barrel to 1.200", then you could use shims on the barrel shank to adjust the headspace. Shims should be easy to find online, I don't know the diameter of the barrel shank.
