Night Vision AGM Rattler external battery?

Do you have to remove cr123a batteries from the AGM Rattler before plugging in an external battery?

You don’t have it but it will eventually drain those 123’s even with the external battery connected

I power up on the internal battery and connect my external. If I snag my magnetic cord on something the scope stays on.
