AI AW Cooper Precision 28" barrel?

I got in a nice 1995 AI AW that came with a Cooper Precision heavy fluted barrel. The barrel measures a full 28".

Did very many AW's come with 28" barrels? I can't imagine many did. If the barrel wasn't fluted I would cut it down a few inches.

Hi Tom,

I will have to double check when I get home and can see the serial # but I remember it to be "95 AW 1228". I might have the digits transposed.

Some history shared by the seller. He bought it from CDNN Investments as a .243 Win. CDNN told him that it came from AI and an AI employee or officer used it when he was in the US. I am sure the story has changed alot from what actually happened as the many people as the story must have passed through before I heard it.

The person I bought it from sent it to Stacey B. to have the pic rail installed at some point while he owned it. I don't know if Stacey also installed the 28" barrel at that time.

I am very curious about the history of the gun. The gun is in excellent shape.

I will verify the serial number when I get home and add it to this post.

I did remember it incorrectly. The serial number is "95 AW 2211".

Darin, I know the history of that weapon pretty well and its configuration + the previous owner. When you call today we can discuss in detail. But the answer on the barrel is "no" I did not install it nor was it offered from AINA in that configuration.
