Hi,
This is my first post after absorbing the wealth of information contained within this excellent forum. I am just about to part with my hard earned monies on an Accuracy International AE MK2, 20” barrel with Suppresor, Atlas bipod, Accushot monopod and scope mount for my S&B 5-25x56 PMII.
My background is mainly varmint and small-bore target shooting however, I got hooked on the long range target shooting last year, so have decided to purchase a dedicated platform to develop my skills.
My shooting will mostly be range work up to 600 meters and steel plates for fun out to 800 meters.
The final decision I have to make is folding or fixed stock. I appreciate the compactness the folder gives for transportation and for the ease of barrel cleaning; however as a left-handed shooter is the location of the sling attachment point at the pivot point any cause for concern?
Being unable to try out the two models prior to purchase I would like to hear from any left hand shooters who operate an AE, AW or AICS with a folding stock [right hand action]. I have tried out a Remington 700 in a right hand AICS fixed stock and the ergonomics suited me fine. I was originally going to go down the route of a Remington 700 varmint in a left AICS folder, but at the end of the day it’s not an AI.
The left hand folding AW would be sweet but unfortunately is out of my budget.
At the moment I am leaning towards the fixed stock and putting the additional cash in to quality ammo and range time.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
