Frank,

Did you ever try putting some extra oomph on your AI barrel(s) to see if you also noticed an improvement as Mark did in one of the podcasts? I remember an old video from Jacob changing one with a BFH.

It would be interesting to see if using a torque wrench on the barrel itself improved accuracy/repeatability, thought they seem to do pretty amazing already just hand snug.

Not sure one would want to put too much on it considering how the QuickLoc "pinch thread" barrel retention works. Enough above hand-tight torque, but not the old-school 120 foot-pounds. If I remember I think Mark did like 30 ft-lbs. or something. Don’t quote me on that.

Then again, I’ve experienced zero repeatability/consistency issues at factory spec myself.

I exerted just a moderate whack with a large crescent wrench and a rubber mallet. Nothing aggressive. I immediately got a more consistent outcome and my drop flattened out nicely. Just something I stumbled onto. -- Marc Taylor
