It would depend on what long action magazine size your bottom metal or chassis is made for, as to which mags you can run. The PMAG 5 magnum, I believe is made for 3.715 size inlets and also only accepts up to a 3.50" COAL. With a 300 WM, that is a big limitation if your reloading (my handloads are right around 3.69"). Whereas some the other magazine length standards can take longer cartridges. If you plan to only use factory ammo, the magazine cost savings might be worth it to you. Thats the only real benefit I see other than weight savings. I run Accurate mag, CIP length magazines and have been very pleased with them. Once you get past the price, they are very high quality and have functioned 100% reliably with any ammunition I have tried.
