Dam I didn’t know the AF had individual weapons of any type or anything that might chip their Manicure..
AF can handle 556 recoil? Who knew.
Now that lady near the local gun club that keeps complaining rounds are leaving the range and hitting her house as she hands the responding officer a live round or piece of brass can say "See told you so!"
Seriously? You need to research nail enamels.
And proof positive too that projectiles climb coming out of the muzzle. That fired projo's angled upwards, so it's doing just what it shows in this here diagram:

Looking closely, he's got the Air Force combat manicure which forgoes any polish. Instead, he has the high speed, low drag (pun intended) polished nails.

The picture was probably of some SP wanna be mall ninja. Smh...those guys were lucky if they knew which end the bullet came out. It used to give the MarDet members quite a chuckle watching the beret wearing Air Farce security police strutting around. Always reminded me of that little dog in that cartoon, "Hey Spike, Hey Spike, we gonna chase some cats today!?!?!?"
The CADM's aren't much better (had one once ask if I was nervous about qualifying...and then I shot a perfect score...not that the USAF Qualification requirements are in anyway challenging. Laughable is more accurate of a description). All you gotta do is get all the rounds on the paper; no scoring ring whatsoever.
But since they are the only ones in the Air Farce (aside from PJ's and CCT's) that carry weapons, they consider themselves at the top of the heap. A small heap, but still at the top of it. Still makes me chuckle thinking about it....

In 1948, Curtis E. LeMay returned to the U.S. to head the Strategic Air Command (SAC) at Offutt Air Force Base, replacing Gen George Kenney. When LeMay took over command of SAC, it consisted of little more than a few understaffed B-29 bombardment groups left over from World War II. Less than half of the available aircraft were operational, and the crews were undertrained. Base and aircraft security standards were minimal. Upon inspecting a SAC hangar full of US nuclear strategic bombers, LeMay found a single Air Force sentry on duty, unarmed. The letter he sent to the A.F. Chief of Staff stated that "This afternoon, I found our nuclear stockpile in a hanger being guarded by a single man with a ham sandwich. There will be no more of that."
Needless to say, things got better for SAC from that moment. And, yes, they still had revolvers into the 1990's.
But the ham sandwich guard... is one of those legendary moments involving LeMay.
BTW, LeMay was also the first to bring the M16 into the U.S. Military. The executives at Colt took him to a picnic and let him try out the Armalite... LeMay was a big gun guy and shooter. He liked it so much, he ordered something like 20,000 of them on the spot for his Security forces. Long before even the SF were fielding them. The Pentagon went bugshit... LeMay told them to piss up a rope. The Air Force got it's M16's. And later, McNamara took LeMay's lead and switched over the whole military... and shut down the armory system. Which is a major argument for a different thread and time...

The US Army Ordnance Corps and its armory system were responsible for the adoption of the M14 over the FAL as the standard US service rifle and for jamming the 7.62X51 down NATO's throat over the UK's 7 mm intermediate caliber cartridge.
For those two reasons alone, the armory system deserved to die.

Yes, everybody got an S&W 38 along with a GUU/GAU-5. Not just SPs. What I mean by everybody was certain fields, like PJ, CCT, and TACP. And yes, some even graduated Army Airborne and Air Assualt school.

I will say this... there is a copy of the picture out there that is very, very high-res. And if you zoom in, the case is a bit out of line with the bore... moreover, it is very blurred. As if in a different focal plane. If someone photoshopped it, why use a blurred case and put it out of line?
Remember, the case could also have been 'falling' through its arc towards landing somewhere around the shooter's 2 O'Clock. And been quite a bit closer to the camera than it looks in the 'small' picture.
You can zoom in a lot on that picture...
Random chance... I give it a distinct "possible" though not a high probable. And, really... does anyone think a photo ed. working for the AF is 'this' dumb? I mean... you got to be pretty out there to get this wrong. Benefit of the doubt goes to... the Air Force.

I know the guy, used to work in my unit. Emailed him this week about it, it's a legit photo. Even mentioned "its probably over gassed"...he's a good kid and good photographer.

FWIW, had I known about PJ's and AF DFAC's, I'd probably have joined the AF! Funny, when our unit found out about AF DFAC's, we started going to McChord for lunch and dinner... It got to where you all you'd see is guys with electric strawberries. They tried to prevent us from going, but it was so good we just changed into civvies before we went! AF guys really bitched when they came in to eat and it was all gone, nothing left but sandwiches (which they'd let you make to take with you, couldn't do that in the army DFAC, those guys are lucky we even left that!).
Damn, I'm hungry. I wish I still had a meal card.

In June of that year I signed in to my first assignment, with the 67th SOS. Fucking PJs everywhere.
Good bunch of guys to be around and their story telling was always worth the time to listen.
My TI asked if I was interested in trying out for PJ. I asked him if they seriously ran everywhere they went. Of course he said yes. I told him fuck no I hate running.
In June of that year I signed in to my first assignment, with the 67th SOS. Fucking PJs everywhere.
Good bunch of guys to be around and their story telling was always worth the time to listen.
When I was stationed on Okinawa the compound where I worked for a while was close to a small army post (Torii Station). We used to eat at their chow hall on a regular basis. I've always heard doggies complain about army chow, but I never had a bad meal. Cost about a buck for lunch as I recall.
