Hello,

I've been able to take over as a match director for a local club in Alabama at Brock's Gap Training Center. We've had the match for about 2-3 years and folks seem to enjoy it as we've seen numbers increase from the 4 shooters we had at the first match to around 25.

Just wanted to welcome competitors to the match. I'm going to do my best to run the match efficiently and let me know if you have any questions.

I’ve never shot a DMR style match, but I’m within striking distance. Can you give a little more information? You can PM if you don’t want to clutter up the thread. Others might like to know as well.

The match consist of a mix between USPSA and PRS style stages, ranging from 3 - 700 yards and shot with both pistol and rifle. Stages are timed. Some stages require the use of both firearms while others only use a rifle or pistol. Most stages will require movement and good weapons handling while moving around obstacles.

Thats a general statement though, do you have specific questions that I can answer better?

Any rifle and pistol is welcome as long as you have a rifle sling and a secure pistol holster. See link above for classifications. Highly recommended you have some type of ballistic data on your rifle.

Series Format

When are the matches: quarterly
Time of matches: 13 - 1700
Breifing: 1245
Spin Up (?): 1145

Competitors will compete in 1 - 4 matches in the series and will be scored per match. At the end of the series, or the 4th match, all competitor's total scores and total times across all matches will be cumulative. There will be a small trophy for 1st - 3rd place for the total points scored, along with a medal for 1st place in their respective division (GPR or PR).
• In the event of a tied score, the competitors will have a shoot off designated by the match director at the 4th match.

Scoring:

Competitors will be ranked on their total score. In the event of a tied score, the competitor with the lower time will rank higher.
• The time factor will only be taken into consideration for the match of the day, not the cumulative series.
• In the event of a tied score and time, the competitors will have a shoot off designated by the match director.

All standard stages will have a 120 second par time.
• Any non-standard stages will have par times outlined in the stage brief.

Rifle:
All standard rifle targets will be scored as follows:
0 - 200 yards - 1 point
201 - 400 yards - 2 points
401 - 600 yards - 3 points
601 - 800 yards - 4 points
• Any non-standard or bonus targets will be outlined in the stage brief
Pistol:
All standard pistol targets will be scored as follows:
0 - 25 yards - 1 point
26 - 50 yards - 2 points
• Any non-standard or bonus targets will be outlined in the stage brief

Sounds like a blast! Does the range have a social media page I can follow for updates? I’ve shot some regions PRS/NRL and rimfire matches over the last few years. I assume I could probably run it with a midsized CZ and my Valkyrie AR.

Brock's Gap media is lackluster at best. I am currently trying to get approval for a DMR specific media page (IG and Youtube) but I have currently heard no word of approval from the club board.

Best bet for now is to just look on their site at the calender and monthly matches.

I post what I can on my personal IG page.

For future matches? We may vould consider it, but 1:00 works for most so they can go to church and then come to the match.

Of course I'll be watching church online due to doing match prep the afternoon prior and morning of.
