I just wanted to post a mini review for a brake that I don't hear mentioned on here alot. The Alamo 4 star cowl induction brake.

I always shoot suppressors, but I recently decided to try one of these for match use. I went with a longer and heavier M24 barrel, so the suppressor just added crazy length and contributed more to the imbalance of the rifle. I love shooting suppressed, but not with this particular barrel.

I got an MPA brake for my 6.5x47. This is an Alamo 4 star brake with 4 ports. I've never tried and APA or hellfire, but I'm truly impressed with this brake. My heavy rifle does not come off target at all. Highly recommended

I I were using a suppressor I'd get the hellfire brake since it is designed to swap with your suppressor, no shims needed for timing either.

I've also been shooting suppressed and really like it. 9" suppressor on a 26" HV barrel. So not light, but if I keep an X-wing bag attached to the butt stock, it balances okay and shoots well. After a friend bought the ZRODelta brake (formerly Alamo 4 Star) and I saw and felt how good it was, I bought one too. I haven't put mine on yet, but having used his, I know that it is a great brake.

And who uses shims? That's what they make a lathe for.

The Hellfire suppressor attachment is only valid if you have a brake attach suppressor. If you have direct thread cans, it offers no advantage.

The brake doesnt need shims and comes off easy because it is self indexing. Super simple to pull it off and use my can.

Not sure. Mine was bought from MPA and has MPAs name stamped on it. Maybe they make em both ways.

True, I guess that had I known there was one with the self timing, that would have been my choice. However, as mentioned, I'll time it myself.

Alamo four star is an amazing brake. with a stout load I can fire my 308 on the bench with me standing next to it and it only moves back about an inch...

I too think it's a great brake. Had it put on my GAP 6.5 SAUM and they'd never even heard of it when I asked for it to be put on. Very little movement of rifle.

The MPA website says "This design is licensed to MPA from Faxon Industries" about their brake. However it looks like the Alamo 4 star brake (now ZRO Delta) and I don't see anything on Faxon's website that resembles the MPA brake.

Anyone know whether this is an error on the MPA website?

In an email with Phil, the dude in charge at MPA a while ago and he said they designed it with Alamo 4s.

Yeah, it looks identical to Alamo's brake. Precision Rifle Blog's muzzle brake test had the Alamo ranked first for total recoil reduction so it's definitely an effective design.

ZRO delta bought Alamo.

I use the Zro gen 1 brakes (Alamo four star) and love them as well. I have used a bunch of brakes. Pretty much all of them. This Zro delta is my fav.
