Command sponsored inside your house hold, no problems at all. Through Canuckia, while it can be done, the paper word, money and hassle is not worth it. Ship them from yourself to yourself. FFL transfer but call the FFL there and inform the FFL you are shipping firearms to them. FFL do not like unexpected firearms to show up. Last I heard, $50 for each firearm is the going rate to write in them in AD log, FFL there may charge you too plus the shipping cost. Once you leave the south 48 boarder with military orders and Geneva Convention Card, you are a resident of AK but for two things, big game hunting and PFD.

Plenty of areas to stretch the legs on ranges Cushman, gravel pits 5-600 yards along the Parks and open land.

Railbelt is a superb area but it does get a weee bit cool and it does get quite hot in the summer.

Few months out is an odd time for PCS to Alaska but if you drive up, get your rig winterized before leaving. It can hit below zero along the AK Hwy even in Oct.

thanks for the info, i have been trying to get as much info as possible from all sources. some of the guys i work with have said the same thing about just mailing it to myself and that seems like the easiest thing to do. now i just have to get a hardcase for them

Couple of things you can do. One of them is if there is a sportsman warehouse you can send your rifles through them. When I had my rifles shipped through it wasn't that expensive and they accidently shipped them to my house when I was under the impression they were going to ship them to the store and I was going to pick them up there. You can also have them shipped to the sports store on Ft Wainwright. They sell firearms at the Sports Store and I have been told that they don't charge any fees for having them shipped there. However, that was 7 yrs ago so you might want to call them up first.

I just left there last July, now I'm at Elmendorf. All you need to do, like 45.308 said, ship them with your house hold goods. It's as simple as that. There is a 1000 yard at least range on base. You can shoot there from 7-4 I believe on weekdays. Not open on the weekend. Have fun, I loved it up there.

BTW, what do you do?
