Movie Theater Alien Covenant

Honestly a lot of the alien movies seem that way. Lots of lead up and only a little fizz at the end. Aliens 2 being the exception.
I would say it is worth a visit to the theater if you're into the series or franchise.... but that's only $8 for me.... and I'm a huge Alien fan.
I think Covenant followed up on the questions from Prometheus well, while cutting past a lot of them rather crudely at the same time.
Was entertaining, and the very ending made things a lot darker I suppose. Lots of blood and guts compared to the other movies.
Still leaves something to be desired after watching though...
But let's be honest, just about anything is better than Alien 3.
Just hoping Alien doesn't become an even bigger sellout than what it is now and turns into something like the new Star Wars films.

I was hoping for more with regard to the engineers, and while we knew David was devious, I didn't care for the direction the end took his character. Maybe Walter will come racing in to the rescue in the next one since we didn't see him die... fingers crossed. An epic space battle would be nice.
A few things that bugged me:
1- If David docked over the engineers, how did the ship then crash through the forest?
2- We still have to get a alien craft full of face hugger pods onto LV-426. But since we have just seen the creation of them we have to come across another alien craft...
3- Furthermore, since we just saw the birth of the traditional xenomorph... how does that fit with AvP showing that earth was a xenomorph hunting ground since the dawn of civilization?

Question 1 has also been towards the top of my theoretical concern list as well.
Ridley did a rather crap job of completely bypassing all the potential explaining of the engineers, simply kill 'em all - must had sounded good to someone...
Question 2, also very troublesome considering the context now given. The other lurking question is where did the Alien Queen come to be in all this.
In the AvP universe, I think it was the first film that said the Preds brought technology and blah blah blah to Earth, but every 100 years or something they needed a 'sacrifice' which mean a Xeno hunting spree beginning from face huggers. It's like a 30 second scene in one of the movies...that I remember
I know the tentative plan was for the sequel to Covenant to hit production in like 18 months or less following its release, and that would tie directly into the original 1979 Alien, supposedly tying everything together.
However, with the rather mediocre performance financially of Covenant, I have a feeling Fox is gonna put the series back in the freezer or cut out Ridley if we're even lucky enough to get a second from here. Which is a shame, because I love the films and whole series, but it's may like Resurrection and now have to wait another decade for a new one...

Worth mentioning, but there's a ton of information out there worth reading that alludes to the fact that there were some pretty big plot changes and several weeks of reshooting done to alter the storyline done by Ridley towards the end of production - some big $$$ there.
I think the questions we are still asking were meant to be answered, as expected, but last minute 'sparks of brilliance' ended up falling short.

I got the feeling that it was shot and then re-shot. Some elements like the crash and the docking just didn't fit together.
