Now that many of us have ordered Accuracy International's AXMC's at the sale price, I'm guessing it's time for a new thread focusing on first impressions as rifle are being received and any questions a new owner might have.

I have a .338 Lapua Mag barrelled AXMC in green on order. Expecting five to six weeks to delivery.

I have ordered a .300 Norma Mag barrel from Patriot Arms. Wait time is forecast to be 14 to 16 weeks plus two to four for cerakote. I am a realist and will be happy if the new caliber barrel is here by the end of the year. Options seem to be Europtic and Mile High. Europtic has Bartlein barrels. Mile High has Proof Research. Patriot Arms offers Rock Creek. 338 and 300 NM fit the same bolt face and magazine. A huge plus.

Struggling with how to thread the end of the barrel. 18x1.5 is the traditional AI thread. I have a QD .338 suppressor that fits over a break with that thread. I have a second .338 suppressor threaded 18x1.0, non QD. Options are 18x1.0 and run the non QD suppressor, 18x1.5 or whatever is the pitch on the .338 barrel which will come with the rifle, and buy a new brake which allows the use of the QD suppressor. The brake which fits the QD suppressor comes in various threads.

Lapua brass for the .300 Norma Mag is a huge plus but seems to be out of stock everywhere at the moment.

RL 33 seems to be the powder of choice and I have that in inventory.

Need to research bullets. I have a selection of .338 bullets in inventory but will need heavier .308 bullets than I normally shoot.

My one mile target is in trouble.

Confirmed that the barrel that comes with the rifle is a Bartlein blank with 18x1.5 pitch thread.

My plan is to thread the new barrel (or barrels, you can't have just one, right?) 18x1.5 That way I have the AI brake from the original barrel plus the smaller brake and QD suppressor from another rifle for both rifles and all two/three barrels.

I'm a happy camper.

For the threading, I'm going to go with the AI 5/8x24 6.5CM barrel. After their great BF prices, I have a few rifles setup with the Area 419 Hellfire adapters and my 2 TBACs (30 Ultra 7 + 338 Ultre) as well as 1 SiCo Hybrid using their suppressor mounts. So for the AI factory 300WM barrel I'll just get the $40 18x1.5 Universal Adapter and my brake and suppressors will all work on it.

For 300NM brass, i ordered it from Canada. Ends up being $5-10 more than what US retailers list it for but its in stock and showed up within a week.

For the Proof Barrels that are stainless, just to track it and ask again - I read in another thread that they were much thinner contour and not like the AI barrel contours. Can anyone confirm that?

I just got a stainless Proof, 308win, 18.5" from MH, the contour looks like the pre-2018 AI barrel.

First impression of my AXMC is great. Went with the 300wm since I already have a 300nm rifle on hand.

Also picked up a Sawtooth ARCA rail. I’m really happy with it.

I’m thinking my next purchase is the AI competition trigger as the stock trigger is not too great.

You should have bought a rifle in pale brown as I have an unused 300NM barrel I need to get rid of

To add to the all things AXMC theme I purchased a bag rider from Bugholes.com and tried it out this weekend, highly recommend it over the factory thumb hook.

I realize the proof barrels may not be in anyone's hands yet but I'll ask anyway...

Are there any pics showing the barrels side by side for Proof vs AI 2018 vs AI pre-2018? With the price of the proof 300NM barrel and its faster 9 twist I'm leaning towards buying the proof and having MH cerakote it PB.

I got a Proof stainless in 18.5" 308win, it looks more similar to the pre-2018 profile AI barrel. In particular, near the tenon it immediately reduced in diameter.

I just concluded a very long conversation with Brownell's this morning.

Good news is the rifle, green in .338 LM is ready to ship.

Not so good news is they charged the undiscounted price to my credit card and when I pointed this out they wanted me to cancel the order and reorder. I'm assuming without the 10% discount. I declined this offer.

The third representative I spoke with confirmed the order after offering a choice of gift cards or credit card refund for the 10% discount. I took the refund and am looking forward to receiving the rifle.

This ended well but is not the treatment I have come to expect from Brownell's. I am very pleased with a great price and shipment within two weeks, not the projected four to six weeks.

That was pretty much my same experience.

I must have gotten lucky. Reading these posts I went to check both my credit card and my Brownell's order. Brownell's shows my Pale Brown 300WM shipped. Looking at my CC, I see a pending $6085 on there. So it looks like they got it right for mine.

I was a bit unsure on if they'd end up cancelling, even with it being Brownells. Very relieved it came through.

Oh, and I had ordered on the 23rd.

The steel proofs that MH have are the thinner ones. Was there the day they came in and looked at one of them. Not that's a bad thing if you aren't doing higher stings of fire. Great price for sure.

Just got done installing my AI competition trigger. If you’re at all unhappy with the stock trigger, get the competition trigger. It’s absolutely great. The adjustability is excellent
