All,

Chris @ Alpha Industries has busted his ass and bank developing a 100% US Made 10 round magazine that functions in all AICS compatible bottom metals. Instead of being of being satisfied with something that will just "work", he has spent the time and resources trying to develop the perfect 10round magazine. I believe he has gotten as close as humanly possible with this new Alpha mag.

The other magazines Chris sent me worked, but did have minor hiccups here and there. I was not truly satisfied as an end user, and he was not satisfied as a manufacturer. Chris spent many hours on the phone listening to me and other guys complain about the lil details and fixed them.

I received the latest generation magazine today and it functions flawlessly in all 3 of my rifles. The fit and finish of the magazine is awesome. Alpha Industries spared no expense when it came to making these magazines.

I tested the magazines in the following rifles:
KMW 260rem
Newman 308win
GAP 243win

I will leave the magazine loaded for the next week (testing for expansion and spring tension) and do live fire testing with 20 + rifles next weekend at our monthly practice and match.

No markings that I know of. Chris will be the man to ask about what all the changes were. I gave him the feed back that we saw here in Nor Cal, but I know he had other guys hammer these mags as well.

This magazine for 308 based calibers like 243, 260, 308.

Chris does have a 10 round 300WSM mag out right now. I got one at Newman Precision for testing since a lot of his guys run WSMs. So far the report is very positive.

10 round 300WM, I can't speak for him, but I am sure if there is the demand for it, he can build it.

Vu i sure hope they run better then the first run did. I had 2 of them and they were the worst to magazines I ever owned. I really had high hopes from them but unfortunatly the reliability wasnt there so I pitched them in the trash.

I will be waiting to here what everyone else says about this next run before spending money on them.

I had minor problems with them in my 308 Templar. Not ofter but enough to make me think twice before running them at a comp.

I will still jump on the chance to try out some of these new mags.

They sure do man. I had issues with a few myself, but Chris took all that feed back and came up with this latest gen mag.

I'll post our results next weekend when we do live fire testing. I think we will have a pretty good test bed with 20+ rifles online.

+1 on the new generation Morta Mags. I had 2 of the older ones and they did have some issues in my KMW / Badger Bottom metal. The new ones have functioned flawlessly! I have ran them both a few times since having them. No issues at all. I am going to put a little more thru them and if I have the same results I have been having (no reason so far to expect any different) I will be switching over to them completely.

I have 2 of the new ten round WSM mags and they both run perfect.

All my ten round AI mags just breathed a sigh of relief since I dont have to drill and bend them for the WSM rounds.

I'll probably pick up a six round WSM mag as well. I have a couple 1st Gen mags for .308 based cartridges that didnt run so well but these new mags are much different.

Constructing something new is always full of challenges. The Alpha magazine product line has evolved and is expanding to include many popular cases; the 300WM has been in development for the past several months. Some specifics about currently available magazines and price;

All Stainless Steel Construction and proprietary teflon finish for coatings, designed to work with any bottom metal or stock that was built around the dimensions of an AICS type magazine.

Had some e-mail come in about the 300WSM mag as they are not listed on the website yet.

Here are some pics of the Alpha 300WSM / 7mm magazine.
If you need some, you can order the Type 2 on the website and indicate 300WSM/7MM.

Max COAL 2.985. This magazine has no liner built in and was built around the 300WSM case.

I have 2 of the older ones ( MORTA marked) and 2 of the new ones ( ALPHA marked). The old ones are working for me most of the time .They seem to feed smoothly than my AICS mags . They were tested in both Badger and Surgeon BDM.

the new mags look great, I haven't had a chance to try them yet though.

I understand the first ones had issues, but I for one am anxious for a U.S. Built alternative to other overpriced mags. I mean, it's a friggin magazine.

I say rock on Chris, you'll get them tweaked out and hopefully dominate the market with a common sense product.

Txmxracer – Shane - offered to help out by testing some Alpha magazines with his FN-CDI set-up. I would imagine he may have to modify the feed-lip area of the Alpha magazine to work with this set-up due to past experience. Jeff @ CDI and many other members here who contributed to the ongoing development of the Alpha magazine told me early on the FN-CDI was going to be a challenge due to its design features. I was also told by several gunsmiths here that other magazines of this type required modifications to function. I am looking forward to the feedback.

Rob,

I should have a general idea on the length of the magazine within a few weeks, possibly a picture as well. I am shooting for the 300WM magazine to be no longer than 5.25 in length. It is going to be challenge for sure.

A version that holds 10rds of 338LM , like the special un-obtainable Ashbury one thats made for the surgeon XL would be nice as well .

As to 10rd 300WM mags , I would like them to be just the same as the Real Accuracy International ones .

Not out to set the world on fire, been putting those out for way too long. Alpha Industries is about offering some alternatives, and some good ones. Listening to members here and working with them to offer solutions is what it is all about. The challenge, It’s what makes the custom magazine business fun and interesting. All,

On Friday I put about 65 rounds through without one malfunction in my Newman Precision 308win.

Today we tested the magazine in 25 different rifles with only 1 rifle not functioning with the magazine. The BM of this rifle was a V-Bull for a Savage 308win. (1 rifle is not pictured) Everything else was a 100%

Feedback was positive across the board with our test group. A lot of the guys said that it fed smoother than their AICS mags due to the slicker finish on the Alpha Mag. Everyone liked the over size of the mag as well.

6.5x47

Bottom Metals:
Badger M5
CDI
AICS
V-Bull

Below are the rifles we ran the mag in today.

C-Lo running a quick 8 @ 800 yards. He even manage to keep everything center mass.

So I've got some bad news, it doesn't work with my new XLR stock. It seems like the back lip thing that clips the mag into place might be a bit too thick. AICS mags clip in perfectly, but this one just doesn't want to clip in. I'm thinking of fiddling around with it and seeing if I can get it to catch. The fit and function of the magazine is awesome and it's definitely a great product, I just wish I could get it to work on mine.

I checked with Customs mate. A bunch of approvals and paperwork needed to bring it in yourself.
