I keep separate, brass of different reloaded numbers. What I mean is if a piece of brass is loaded 4 times, I'll keep that out of a batch that has been loaded once or twice.

Am being too picky. Does it really matter if you go ahead and mix brass?

Re: Am I too Anal?

No. I keep all of my brass sorted by lots. Sometimes those lots are just all 3x fired brass, sometimes they are 3x and all the same lot of Lapua, etc. The only brass I dont really keep sorted is pistol...though, if I can keep track of it by lot and x fired, I do.

With rifle its more critical as you are going to trim more, want more accuracy, etc. Keep on keeping it sorted....its easy, just run it in batches.

Re: Am I too Anal?

I feel really good if I manage to keep my brands all together. I don't keep track of how many times I've fired a particular but I don't shoot BR either. I do ocasionally trim all to keep them the same length but there seems to be so many other variables out there that are more important than keeping the brass with same firings together.

Just my opinion though, every lil bit does help they say..... If it adds to your confidence level then go for it.

Re: Am I too Anal?

I sort my .338 Lapua brass by shot count and make. Pistol brass, one bucket for "once fired," after that, it goes in the "range brass" bucket.

Re: Am I too Anal?

I weight sort all my brass and that group stays in the same round box, all the way from tumbling to the range bench. the only brass that I don't do that with is 223.

Re: Am I too Anal?

Definitely keep brass sorted by # of firings. When I start to show signs of failure or other negative signs above 10% of the cases I trash that lot of brass. You can bet that the rest of the brass won't be far behind.

Re: Am I too Anal?

Sounds good, thank ya'll very much. I have some R-P BR small primer brass for my 260 Rem. Thin walled, but very consistent hope its lasts. I just got a Redding bushing die, and only will size necks untill the brass is tight. So far the stuff is wicked accurate. I've got about 300-400 pieces of the stuff, 60 some virgin and about 300 once fired n the rest for load workup n plinking.

thanks for the advice

Re: Am I too Anal?

The only brass I worry about is belted magnum, they start to bulge above the belt and then require a special die to reduce the bulge..if not 2 to 3 loadings max..exception is T/C Encore barrel..I just neck size...course I am new to reloading (50yrs)??

Ditto ...

No such thing ... if you want perfection ... be a perfectionist.
