Rifle Scopes American Defense AR scope mount?

I know its kind of subjective but how tight do you make the levers? If I make them as tight as I feel I need it takes everything I have just to open them back up. But if I make it one notch looser it seems too easy to close and open.

Or am I just over thinking this...

Leave them tight and loop a piece of paracord behind them to help pull them open when you need.

The levers are one of my complaints on the ADM mounts. From the standpoint of being solid and having the lock on them that prevents inadvertent opening, they are great. But that very feature makes them a pain in the ass to open.

I actually contacted them about this. They said to return it and they'll send me a new one. How would I know the new one wouldn't have the same issue? The reason I thought it might be a manufacturing error is because the one was perfect. The other one was just as you explained. Way to tight to ever get open without a tool or paracord. If I loosened the hex screw one turn, it was very loose. Didn't make sense that it could go from being way too tight to very loose from one turn. Oh well....

I like the paracord idea, didn't think of that.

I run them and just use the end of my sling to go underneath it.

On my first one a few years ago I snapped a bolt getting it TOO tight, a quick phone call and even though I fully said it was my fault and offered to buy they sent it to me free.

I have used the scope mounts, Aimpoint Micro and ACOG mounts from them. Good stuff, my primary AR uses one.

I was reading the literature that came with mine and it basically said that "loose" feeling comes from their superior locking design and and the lockup isn't nearly as loose as it feels. I've done a little bit of testing on mine, both with the lock loose and with it tightened up a turn or two and didn't notice a loss in zero. Doesn't mean it wasn't there, I just didn't notice it in the brief preliminary testing.

I lock mine at the last setting where I can easily unlock it. If you have to try to open it, you're doing it wrong.

Same here. I don't think they have to be overly tight to be plenty secure.

Me too. It holds zero on both of my ARs with these mounts.

Exactly. It was hard to get used to the feeling that the next shot was gonna wiggle it loose. Never happened, though. After a few hundred rounds it still holds zero. I found that same sweet spot. It takes a little initial experimenting but once it's set you're good to go.
