Well, since I couldn't find a single source for what the damned bullet length is for this ammo, I pulled a loaded round and measured (Come on Federal, unfuck yourself and get your shit together!)

I figure I'd post it here so someone else didn't have to go through the same butt pain, just to plug in this ammo into a calculator.

    Length: 0.925"

Also dumped and weighed the powder. Came out at 27.98grs on the FX-120. Looked a lot like 2000MR or Varmint Pro. My first thought of CFE223 is probably off, since I think that weight of a charge may be over max for a 75gr bullet. (Shrug...who knows). May just be a non-cannister grade ball powder...

28 grains of powder in a 223 case loaded with a 75 gr bullet loaded to mag length?

That's a lot even for ball. The most Reloder 15 I could safely cram under a Hornady 75 HPBT was 24.7 grains using Lake City brass.

It wasn’t, but I sorta figured it out after your post showing the powder amount. The factory .224V shoot pretty well in my rifle. Not as consistent as the 88 ELDM, but good enough inside of 600 yards.

A slight tangent to the topic but did any of you happen to catch JP Rifles recent video with John Paul talking about making a "Mexi-Match" round out of these by pulling the 75gr FMJ and seating a 77gr STMK? He is apperantly seeing outstanding accuracy from these. It's pretty interesting way to turn a plinker round into something better for the cost of the bullets and your time.

Yeah, one of our local club members sent me the youtube video above yesterday actually. It certainly is one route to go to get relatively cheap, high quality ammo. May give it a try, since I've got about 120rds left of the AE stuff....

Good info here. Just built my daughter a 224 Valk as a Trainer. Definitely gonna give this Mexican Match a try. Hopefully it works out. Cheap accurate ammo without all the hassle of full blown reloaded process.

Thanks for the good info. This is a great plinking/practice round. Haven’t taken it to 1000 yet but getting 3050 FPS avg out of my 26 inch bartlien.

WC846 or something close to it? 844 and WC/SMP842 would be way too quick.
