Ammo prices and quality post The Ukraine

When can we expect prices to go down and quality to go up ?

I hear even the best ammo manufacturer (Hornady) , hasn’t been able to source the correct powder and quality has suffered as a result
Prices coming down? A month after never, is my prediction.

Quality going up...eh, probably at the same time.

Classifying Hornady as that best ammo in this crowd???? .........That seems like a bold move Cotton!
Ppl don’t no what’s good

Accurate
Deadly
Dependable

If the war in Ukraine takes a pause (and that’s a big IF), global ammunition supplies are so depleted that it will take governments several years to resupply what has been wasted. That will be more than enough time to spin up another war to continue the drought.

So no, it’s not happening. Ever.

The best time to buy ammo and components is the same best time to have bought land: Yesterday.

Hornady has been my go to factory ammo for years , I've got a good quantity put away for SHTF and mostly shoot cheap or military type ammo for range use. I admit that there are probably better factory ammo out there but in my limited experience Hornady has been solid in accuracy compared to fedral and Winchester ammo.ive recently started building a 6.5 creedmore AR10 and will likely use Hornady ammo to test for function and accuracy before I start reloading for it , ok let the 6.5 cdm put downs begin , I'm pretty thickskined and can take it .I couldn't help it areo had matched upper and lower on sale ,Stag brand for some reason.

If you haven’t finished and shot it yet, you’re still just Creed curious. It’s not too late.

...and there we have it. 6.5 Creedmoor...LoL! Mac:rolleyes:

It's a fair enough question- ammo prices will go down when demand goes down to an exponentially higher degree (likely same answer when it comes to quality). I'm not quite the 'negative Nancy' that others are for the question because I think that it can and likely will happen.

With that said, I think the incoming administration needs to (1) foster a culture of calm nationally that there won't be any runs on guns/ammo/ammo components, (2) needs to foster an economic environment where those industries feel comfortable investing in expanding their production and have the means to source the raw materials needed to promote said expansion.

If we can knock out those 2 items, I reckon we'll see at least 2 of the next 4 years supporting ammo prices trending downwards and ammo quality moving upwards.

A-tips? @ 600yds? Ummm...okay.
I only have 600 yards max to shoot. I shoot the 135 a-tip at 400+ and yes also 600 ive done. I have not had any come apart if thats what you surprised about. I have not shot in a long time though b/c of my vision issues.

Apparently im out of the loop.
