Obviously he has never seen a prestart to a regata. they do this jockying for position at the starting line, preferablly to windward on the starbord tack so that they can have the most advantage possible, considering all the vessels are the same, the leward over windward rule wouldn't come into play as much. if you want some really good prestart action, watch the america's cup
